PEP is the acronym for the Progress through Enrichment Program.  It is a program for first and second grade students that score at or above the 90th percentile on a cognitive abilities test.  We administer either the CogAT or the OLSAT.  Any student that qualifies will be placed in a one to two hour  class weekly.  Students that score at the 97th percentile or above will be placed in the gifted program immediately at the beginning of third grade.  Any student that scored into PEP at the 90th to 96th percentile will be give either the OLSAT or the CogAT, but not the same form as was administered for PEP placement.  They will have the opportunity to retest and determine whether they will qualify at the 97th percentile or above and continue to be in my class for GT at the beginning of third grade.  PEP is not offered to students after second grade.

If you feel like your child would benefit from placement in PEP you may contact me or the counselor at your child's school to request testing.  The GT teacher at each site administers, scores, and keeps all confidential files on students referred for testing.  Testing will take place at the beginning of the school year and again in April and the first part of May.  If you would like to have your child tested, please contact the GT teacher to get your child added to the list for the next testing cycle.
