CPS ATHLETICS RE-ENTRY PLAN

Claremore Zebra Athletics

Letter to Parents Regarding Phase-in to Zebra Athletics on June 15.

Parents or Guardians of Student-Athletes,

Claremore Public Schools will return to summer activities as of June 15, 2020, with restrictions.  As we prepare for the transition we want you to know what precautions will be taken to mitigate the risk for your student-athlete.  The situation surrounding COVID-19 is fluid and adjustments may need to change during this process.  As these adjustments are made, we will communicate with you regarding those changes.

These workouts are VOLUNTARY.  Non-participation will NOT be counted against any student-athlete.

COVID-19 Facts

The virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to others by infected persons who have few or no symptoms.  Because of the hidden nature of this threat, we should continue to observe practices that protect everyone, including those who are most vulnerable.  While it is not possible to eliminate all risk of furthering the spread of COVID-19, we are going to take steps to mitigate the risks to our student-athletes and coaches.

Decreasing the potential exposure of respiratory droplets is the guiding principle behind social distancing and the use of face coverings.  The use of cloth face coverings is meant to decrease the spread of the respiratory droplets.

All coaches and student-athletes will be required to comply with the following restrictions and guidelines regardless of the facility used or activity:

Very Important:

  • All coaches and student-athletes must wear masks to enter any Claremore Athletic Facility.  Students should provide their own masks.  (We will have a limited supply of masks for those that do not have access to one.)  Each mask must be able to cover the nose and mouth and fit snugly.

  • All student-athletes must bring their own water bottle.  Have your name on the bottle.  A gallon jug is recommended.  Water bottles must not be shared.  Our water fountains are off-limits during the student-athletes workout.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available for the student-athletes.

Prior to Arriving:

  • If you are sick or feel sick, do not come to the workout.
  • Vulnerable individuals should not oversee or participate in these workouts. (See CDC list for a list of these individuals)
  • Self-screen for the symptoms of COVID-19 before coming to the facility:
    • Temperature greater than 99.9
    • Cough
    • Shortness of Breath or difficulty breathing
    • Sore throat
    • Loss of taste or smell
    • Known close contact with a person who is confirmed to have COVID-19
    • If you have been or a family member has been out of the country

Furthermore, underlying medical conditions may increase the risk of severe illness from COVID-19 for individuals of any age including asthma, severe obesity (body mass index (BMI) of 40 or higher), and people with diabetes.

On Arriving at Claremore Facilities:

  • CPS coaches will communicate with student-athletes where to enter and exit.

  • Student-athletes must maintain the 6-foot social distancing requirement while waiting to come into our facilities.

  • All coaches and student-athletes will be screened for signs/symptoms of COVID-19 prior to a workout.  Screening includes a symptom questionnaire and temperature check.  Any ‘Yes” answers on the survey will prohibit that coach or student-athlete from entering the facility and sent home. If this happens, you will be notified by phone and a letter will be sent home with your student with details of next steps.

  • Locker rooms will be off-limits to student-athletes.

  • No more than 2 student-athletes will be permitted on each piece of workout equipment.

  • Facilities will be cleaned throughout the workout.

  • All coaches and student-athletes must wear masks during workouts; except when performing activities restrictive to breathing and whenever proper social distancing is possible (i.e. outside).

  • Hand sanitizer will be available to student-athletes, coaches, and staff at all times.

Post Workout Procedures:

  • Student-athletes should social distance upon leaving and do not hang around in the parking lots.

  • Student-athletes are encouraged to go straight home and wash workout clothes and shower.

  • Facilities will be disinfected after each workout session.

This is an overview of our phased in plan, minimizing the risk for your student-athlete is our number one goal.  We will provide updates as needed.  Thank you for your support of Claremore Zebra Athletics and Claremore Public Schools.
