Students are discovering the exciting art of Batik! Batik is a fabric art technique where melted wax is applied to cloth to block out certain areas before dyeing. The wax is drawn on the fabric with a traditional tjanting tool, then the piece is hand painted. To reveal the final masterpiece, students remove the wax by ironing the fabric between sheets of newsprint and then washing away any remaining residue—unveiling bold contrasts, luminous color, and rich designs.

🎨🦓 During Zebra Connect time, CHOICES students worked on their “Emotions in Color” art project, using different colors and designs to represent how they’re feeling.

This creative time allowed students to express their emotions in a healthy way, reflect, and decompress. We love seeing art used as a positive outlet for self-expression and well-being!

🚀✨ Leadership in action!

Our Student Council members had an amazing time partnering with students in Mrs. Peter’s and Mrs. Bacon’s classes at Roosa Elementary to help with their Alpha III rocket class project!

From offering guidance on design and construction to cheering them on during testing, our high school leaders were proud to support these young engineers every step of the way. Hands-on learning like this not only builds STEM skills, but also creates meaningful connections between our schools.

We love seeing our students serve as mentors, role models, and encouragers in our community. Great job to everyone involved — the future of aerospace looks bright!

Students in Mrs. Andrews’s English IV classes recently explored satire and journalism during England’s Age of Reason. After analyzing mentor texts — including Jonathan Swift’s A Modest Proposal — and studying political cartoons, students crafted their own “modest” proposals paired with original cartoons. They presented their work to the class, demonstrating critical thinking, creativity, and a sharp understanding of satire’s power to challenge society.
