On Monday March 11, 2024 juniors were given the opportunity to attend a Northeastern State University campus visit sponsored by Gear Up. There were 144 students who signed up and turned in permission slips to attend. Once the students arrived at NSU they were divided into two groups. One group stayed in the auditorium for an informational presentation including a question and answer session while the other group went on a walking campus tour. Once those were completed the two groups switched. Following the presentation and campus tours the juniors enjoyed lunch in the NSU cafeteria.

Mr. Z’s AP English III class has been working on a project called The Portrait of a Speaker. This is a rhetorical analysis essay on a poster. Students were tasked with analyzing the persuasive techniques of famous figures in popular culture and history. Mr. Z extended this limitation to singer/songwriters since lyrics can have subversive and surprisingly deep meanings. Different parts of the speaker act as symbols for the speaker's perspective, such as the Face representing the persona of the speaker, the Environment representing the audience they want to communicate with, or their Clothing representing the speaker's credibility.
