π«Claremore High School - Science Teacher
πZebra Alumni: 1983
β€What has been your favorite part about returning as a staff member?
I love teaching former classmates and the students who had Mrs. Riggs (my wife) in kindergarten. I appreciate that the school continues to provide world-class facilities and opportunities that support all our students. I get to teach something I truly love: Biomedical Science. It is very gratifying to see some of our students choosing to pursue medical career pathways. It is a significant benefit to our home community.
πWhat is one of your favorite memories from being a CPS student?
One of my favorite memories is the student body gathering in the "pit" at the High School to play ping pong daily at lunch. High school was very enjoyable.
π©π»βπ«What was your favorite class or teacher?
My favorite teacher was Alger Flood. My favorite class was Biology.
πWhat was your favorite extracurricular?
Claremore Zebra Football!
βWhat was trending when you graduated? Clothes, songs, movies, etc.
Michael Jackson and Star Wars - "Return of the Jedi".

The sun rose and the sun now sets on the Class of 2024's season at CHS, we wish them success in their next season as #claremorezebraalumni.

Mrs. Gonzalez's Spanish 2 class embarked on an immersive cultural journey by designing, crafting, and ultimately breaking open piΓ±atas. Through this hands-on activity, they honed their language skills by following instructions and conversing in Spanish while creating their colorful masterpieces. As they meticulously crafted each piΓ±ata, they delved deeper into the rich cultural significance behind this tradition, fostering a deeper appreciation for Spanish-speaking customs. The culminating moment of smashing open their creations not only brought joy and excitement but also solidified their bond with the language and its vibrant heritage.
Claremore High School students finished their semester-long biology lesson at the Rogers State Nature Reserve. Through lessons on ecosystems, habitat requirements, animal adaptations, and the use of dichotomous keys to help identify different species, they finished evaluating the health of a pond at RSU. π£π¬π¦
They had previously looked at the pond's dissolved oxygen, pH, turbidity, and temperature to guess what could live in such conditions. During their lesson they found out, getting in the water and finding the different populations that live there. To conclude their hypothesis, the pond is an excellent place for wildlife of all different kinds. π£π¬π¦ #cpszsebrapride

Several of our CHS students have gathered with their teams and organizations to clean up tornado damage. After the recent devastation in Claremore, they joined efforts to clean up and rebuild, showcasing the true spirit of our community. Together, we are stronger and our students, staff, and community have displayed just that. Leaving no doubt that we are #CLAREMORESTRONG. It is always a great day to be a Zebra.β€π¦
