The Claremore Zebras sailed to an easy victory over Grove JH 11-4 on Monday night. The Zebras got things started in the first inning when Preston Sanders tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Grove responded with two runs of their own after a Ridgerunner walk in the bottom of the first. But in the second the Zebras regained the lead with a two RBI double by Parker Dowell. The Zebras continued to pour it on with a five run 5th inning, recording hits by Kellen Gaede, Parker Dowell, and Brayden Hampton. In total the Zebras tallied a season high 11 hits through 5 innings.

Parker Dowell no only had a great night with the stick, he was the starting pitcher for the Zebras. Dowell recorded a quality start allowing five hits through 3 innings and punching out 4.

Coach Willard was asked how he felt the game went and his thought so far on the season. He responded “the game is easy when we play like we did tonight. When we swing it and pitch well we are a hard team to beat. As far as the season goes I am very pleased with the progress the boys have made. It is a shame that the season is so short because I feel the boys are really starting to roll and have a lot of fun doing so.”

If you have not had a chance to watch this young team play, you have another chance this evening at home as we play host to Grove. The weather is great so get out and watch the Zebra future do what they do best.
