In addition to the traditional commencement ceremony with its cap and gown and congratulatory handshakes, valedictorian speech (or speeches) and recognition of outstanding achievements, most communities also have baccalaureate ceremonies. Formally defined as a religious service to honor the graduating class, a more reflective event that focuses on students' personal growth and achievement.
The Claremore Ministerial Alliance has hosted this event. This year is no different, the Baccalaureate service will be this Sunday, May 3rd at 3 PM, but like most public events this year, it will be virtual. The community is invited to watch it on the Facebook pages or websites of several local churches in our area. Tune in to watch some of your classmates speak, sing, and also recognize Mrs. Andrews, the senior's choice for their Teacher of the Year.

Class of 2022, you have until June 30th to complete the OKLAHOMA PROMISE SCHOLARSHIP but we recommend you do it before the end of this school year.
This is your LAST CHANCE to apply. After sophomore year they will not let you begin an application. You may not qualify now, but you might in the next 2 years. If you don't qualify now but do in a couple of years, you can go back and adjust it and plead your case. If you have not started the process, you can NOT go back!. Don't think you want to go to college... THINGS CHANGE. Do it anyway. Don't take away options you may not realize you might want in the future.
Take the time to do this ASAP!

We are working on plans to make this process seamless and safe, and we will communicate those plans to you as soon as possible.

"The Year 2020 will be one we will all remember for years to come. Senior year is an important year in a student's life. This year is filled with memories and traditions you will cherish. This last month has been difficult for you as many cherished events have been either cancelled or delayed. One thing that hasn’t changed is our devotion to you, Class of 2020. Our desire for you to have as many of the treasured memories and traditions that you can.
One cherished memory is graduation. The graduation ceremony is very important and one of the best nights of high school life. The tradition of walking across the stage at Lantow Field or even the new gym when it rains is a memory you should have. Our commitment is to have a Virtual Graduation Ceremony and for this ceremony to contain as many of the traditions as possible. I want to assure you, we are also committed to having an actual graduation ceremony if and when the government restrictions are lifted. Presently, we will focus on what we can do. For this reason, we will start filming for the virtual ceremony next week."
Please check your school email to get all the details Mrs. Garroutte sent out earlier this week.

Claremore Public Schools will join the national #BeTheLight movement tonight at 20:20 military time (or 8:20 PM). Lantow Field, Legendary Legion Field, and the Lady Zebra softball field will turn their light on for 20 minutes.
Even in this gesture of hope, we will continue to practice social distancing and reinforce the “safer at home” standards that have been put in place by the state authorities. We will be working to livestream from a drone on our District FaceBook page and will post additional footage and photos later this week on all our platforms.

Claremore High School is giving back to the community. Our community and teachers donated food to a food closet that is available to any student or family in need of food. Since the students are not in the building, we packed up the food, and it will be distributed this Friday at the Central Office location.

Attention families planning on sending your students to Washington, DC, on June 2-6 with Coach Douthitt and Mr. Cummings.
Unfortunately, our trip is postponed until June 2021 due to concerns surrounding COVID-19. Mr. Cummings sent an email to all parents/guardians with a message concerning all available options for your student.
Please check your email and contact Mr. Cummings if you have any questions. Consequently, because of this postponement, enrollment will reopen for this trip soon. If any current 8th grader or high school student is interested in going to Washington, DC in June 2021, stay tuned for information as it becomes available.
