Oklahoma GEAR UP's Parent Committee is a fantastic way for parents to get involved in helping Claremore High School teachers get the tool and resources needed to help ALL students learn at high levels. Thank you to the Gear Up Claremore! parent partners.
"See these boxes? They might not look like much, but they contain very expensive chemicals and lab equipment that I could not usually afford. However, this shipment was delivered to my lab today, paid for entirely by parent donations. Parents who want the best for their kids. Parents who understand that our schools are severely underfunded. Parents who make me grateful to teach in this district. And now the fun begins," -Joy Hatfield-Bandy

Coach Short's Zoology class, at CHS, dissected a Dogfish Shark. Dissection can be useful because it allows people to discover and learn about how systems in a body work together. The real experience of this lab, enable a student to be engaged in the learning process and understand the internal organs, identify the tissue organs, and have an appreciation of the complexity of living organisms.

CHS took 300 10th graders to the Sophomore Showcase this fall to explore the career programs NTC offers in preparation for their junior year. Students were able to pick three programs to tour at the Pryor Campus, allowing more 1:1 time and the opportunity for some hands-on experience with the tools, projects, and equipment. At the Claremore campus, students toured all six of their full-time programs.
This event is a strategic opportunity in the ICAP process, creating more evident benefits for both students and schools. CPS is approaching and delivering career development in our schools to help students and their families become more informed consumers of the education and training required to meet their personal goals.
Students will continue this process throughout high school. However, the exposure to these programs allows these students an intimate look into several career options made possible through career-tech training while in high school &/or after high school.

Are you a crime show junkie? Do you find yourself binge-watching Law & Order, CSI, NCIS or Criminal Minds? With a plethora of crime series on TV there has been an increased interest in our Forensic Science classes.
One of our students' favorite units is the Blood and Blood Spatter unit. This project students have to recreate bloodstain patterns, find the area of convergence, angle of impact, and velocity.
No one here is learning "How to Get Away with Murder" but we may have the next modern-day "Sherlock Holmes" in the house.

It's always a great day when the Zebras get the "W" but even sweeter when it's in Tiger territory. Freshmen boys won the championship at the Pryor Invitational last week.

The selfless act of serving others is a way to bring more joy into the world. It is a method with which to build amazing, passionate cultures within a business, within a school, within a community, within a family, within a team. Too often we can get caught up in the ideals of prestige or winning and forget that the main reason anyone is successful is because of what they have done for others.
"The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." ― Ralph Waldo Emerson. Claremore athletics wants to be a winning program but more importantly, we want to build citizens that win by serving others.
This week the CHS baseball and softball players held a canned food drive to help stock the Rogers County Sheriff's Dept. Food Pantry. The pantry is open to anyone 24/7. CHS girls basketball helped Westside pack up food baskets for fellow Zebra families.

When skill, talent, and passion come together in a teacher, it shows in the work of their students.
