NOTICE: WRJH Closure Due to COVID-19
Dear Will Rogers Junior High Parents,
Due to an increase in staff and student COVID quarantines within Will Rogers Junior High, we will be transitioning to distance learning beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, December 8th.
This past week and over the weekend, Will Rogers Junior High experienced unusually high Covid related quarantines that have significantly affected the staffing at the Junior High. All close contacts were immediately notified and quarantined. With an inability to cover classes and effectively instruct face to face, we are making the difficult decision to move to Distance Learning beginning tomorrow. Therefore, there will be no in-person classes at Will Rogers Junior High from Tuesday, December 8th through Thursday, December 17th. At this time, the school is scheduled to resume and reopen following Christmas Break, Monday, January 4, 2021.
Because this face to face closure is due to staff quarantines and isolations and not Covid outbreak, we will proceed with Activities and Athletics scheduled for the next two weeks. This is contingent on no additional quarantines or changes in Covid spread. Any previous quarantines regarding teams or groups are still in effect, even if the events are still scheduled to continue.
Meals will be distributed off-site at the Claremore Administration Building, 101 W 11th St, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM this week, TUESDAY, December 8th, and THURSDAY, December 10th. Next week meals will be distributed MONDAY, December 14th, and THURSDAY, December 17th, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the same Central Office location. We will use the closure time to deep clean the building and prepare for students' return on January 4, 2021.
Student medications held in your school nurse's office can be picked up at Will Rogers Junior High by the parent or guardian if needed during the closure period. Please call the school from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM at 918-923-4205 to schedule a time. A Picture ID will be required to pick up medication.
While this closure is precautionary and due to the high number of staff and students being quarantined, as always, the safety and well-being of students and employees is our top priority. We will continue to monitor the evolving health crisis caused by coronavirus, still adhering to guidance from the Oklahoma State Department of Health, State Department of Education, the CDC, and Emergency Management in all decisions made.
Thank you for your understanding and partnership with us as we take the necessary steps to protect our school community. Again, the situation is being closely monitored, and we will keep you apprised of any changes.
