National Assistant Principals Week - Dalton Worthington

Mr. Dalton Worthington

Position: Assistant Principal at WRJH
Career:  Started teaching career in the 2007-2008 school year and began at CPS in the 2020-2021 school year.

Thank you to all of our assistant principals for their leadership and direction in educating our students! This week is National Asst. Principals Week and we are extremely proud of our dedicated school administrators and their work in creating safe and successful school cultures. These thoughtful leaders have been instrumental as we navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic, always putting students first.

Let’s get to know them a little better and join us in taking some time to thank our assistant principals for everything they do!

Who is a mentor or role model who inspired you & why?   Mr. Young and Mrs. Bopp have helped guide me this year. It is very obvious that they both care about our students. They are so patient with all of my questions. I learn every day from them.

What legacy do you want to leave here at WRJH?   That students know that I care about them not just as a student but also as a person.

Who has been the most influential teacher in your career and why?  As a student, it was Mr. Jordan, my high school psychology teacher. He invested in me as a person, not just a student. As a teacher, it was Mrs. Parnell during my time at Porter. When I was a young teacher, she showed me what it meant to be a professional.

What sets WRJH apart from other schools?  The community and culture at WRJH are absolutely incredible. Our teachers are willing to step out of their comfort zones to do what is best for the students.

Favorite memory at WRJH?  The first day of school, especially after being out of a school building for so long.

If you could tell the public anything about your job at WRJH what would you want them to know?   I would want them to know that WRJH has the best teachers and students around. Our teachers are completely committed to the success of our students.

Why did you choose CPS?   I chose CPS because it is filled with incredible people who care so much for our students from top to bottom.
