4th grade students in Mrs. Ramsey's WIN group are working on text structures: Description, Cause/Effect, Compare/Contrast, Problem/Solution, and Chronological Sequence. Students had to read a story, determine the text structure, make a graphic organizer, and then present the evidence to the group describing the text structure with story details.

ONE WEEK until our Book Fair!
Our Book Fair runs from April 26th-30th.
In person learners will be able to shop from the 26th-29th and our CVS students will be able to shop by appointment on the 30th!
Due to COVID procedures, we cannot allow parents into the building to shop with their student during the book fair. Students can come with money to shop, and will have designated time each day to visit the fair.
One of the best ways to shop is Scholastic's E-Wallet! This allows you to put a set amount of money on a "gift card" for your student to shop the fair. Any unused funds go back to you via the account used! Its a WIN-WIN!

My name is Jamie Dillard and I am a para for kindergarten. I have been in education for 20 years, and all 20 years have been with CPS.
I’m the proud mother to my daughter Azya, son-n-law Noah, son Quentin, son Malakai and son Kailib. I’m also the very proud Gigi to my granddaughter Kartyr. My kids and grand are my whole universe.
I enjoy playing basketball or any other sport, going to the lake and being outdoors as much as possible!
I love all of our Claremont family - especially our students. I have been blessed to work with such amazing staff all of these years.

It’s National Library Month and CPS wants you to get to know the names and faces of those who work with our students every day in our school libraries. A librarian or a more modern name is Library Media Specialist seems to have a book recommendation for everyone. With 20,000 titles in a library, there is always something for everyone. This week we will find out some of our CPS Library Media Specialist’s favorites.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻/𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀?
My favorite book to read to MY children is John Ronald’s Dragons or Finding Winnie. My favorite book to read to my students is The Day You Begin by Jacqueline Woodson. The Day You Begin is a beautiful story of self-love and acceptance. I cannot read it without tearing up.

My all time favorite book...this is a hard one. My favorite book tends to change depending on the stage of life I’m in. The book I’ve read the most: Brave New World by Alduous Huxley. My favorite genre is Historical Fiction and I specifically love to read books about WWII.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴?
I am currently reading The Things We Cannot Say by Kelley Rimmer. It is a...you guessed it...Historical Fiction novel set during WWII.

Mrs. Keener, our music teacher, orchestrated a concert for our 4th/5th grade students performed by Edgar Cruz, who played classical guitar.

My name is Randa Fay and I am the principal. I have been in education for 16 years, and all of those have been with CPS. I attended Northeastern State University where I received my Bachelors in Education, and Southwestern Oklahoma State University where I received my Masters in Education Administration.
My husband and I have been married for 15 years. We have two children that attend Claremore Public Schools, and we are proud to be a part of the Claremore community! We spend our free time at sporting events or enjoying the outdoors.
My favorite quote is "be kind, speak truth, show grace, love others, work hard, be grateful."

April is National School Library Month!
"There are so many things I love about my job! I love getting to curate a library collection, create reading incentive programs, develop meaningful lessons, collaborate with teachers, and yes.. shelve books." Librarianship today is so much more than just the checking out of the books. It's creating lasting relationships with the students who walk through my classroom doors. It's impacting a future generation.
Research will tell you that students who are good readers will succeed in other areas of their education BECAUSE they love to read. Reading is the foundation to success. I get to help students fall in love with reading...I get to help them become successful. I love that."
