My name is Wendi Mitchell and I teach Kindergarten. I have been in education for 31 years, all of those being with CPS.
I attended the University of Science and Arts Oklahoma and Northeastern State University and I hold degrees in Deaf Education, Multiple Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and a Masters in Special Education.
I have been married to my husband Cris for 32 years. We have three daughters, one granddaughter and a grandson on the way. I enjoy crafting, quilting, and spending time with my family and friends.
I love working with my team and I enjoy seeing a child really "get it." Sometimes, when a child struggles with learning, and they really begin to understand it, it is one of the best experiences in teaching. I believe that it is so important to give students mutual respect and love to springboard their success.

I am married to Hannah and we have two girls, and a spunky golden retriever named Nitro. My hobbies include woodworking, running and watching sports.

1st grade students participate in small groups with their teachers.
Small group instruction allows teachers to work more closely with their students, providing the opportunity to evaluate students' learning strengths, locate gaps in the development of their reading or math skills and tailor lessons focused on specific learning objectives.

"Involvement in the arts is associated with gains in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, and verbal skill. Arts learning can also improve motivation, concentration, confidence, and teamwork." (edutopia.org)
We believe that the arts are critical to the development of our students! We are thankful to have an art teacher who truly loves what she does, and who inspires creativity in our students!
