Scrambled Sentences!
Mrs. Proctor's 3rd graders practiced subjects and predicates and adding details to sentences to enrich the writing process. Writing is an important tool for learning in 3rd grade, and is used for everything from learning how to put thoughts on paper to aiding in the research process.

Mrs. Francis has begun to implement something really neat to dress up our walls at Claremont: The Brag Board.
The Brag Board serves to encourage students to engage in art outside of the classroom. Anything they bring to Mrs. Francis goes on the wall, and as you can see, it's getting full fast!

Have you heard of the Switch Witch? On this #wellnesswednesday, we want to introduce you!
- The Switch Witch Poem -
I am the Switch Witch
from the land of Moonlight.
I come to trade candy,
on Halloween night.
With my black cat Zoom,
I ride on my broom,
searching here and there,
for a child who likes to share.
My cat loves candy,
that's what he most enjoys.
So leave him your stash,
Ill switch it for a toy!
Pick out a few treats,
to keep with you here,
leave the rest in your basket,
and on Halloween night,
a new toy will appear!
*found at twichetts.com
We love the idea of a Switch Witch, because it allows children to participate in Halloween, get lots of candy, and then choose some favorites to keep without having candy in the house for weeks on end!
What do you think? Tell us in the comments.

"Good phonics instruction is about learning the architecture of words, what they are made of. It's about putting them together and taking them apart."
-Heidi Anne Mesmer
Phonics instruction is so important - even for 3rd grade! Did you know that phonics instruction teaches students how to decode letters and their sounds? In third grade, students develop a more advanced phonemic awareness, phonics knowledge and decoding skill which allows them to develop fluent reading.

We finally got to treat the last of our Homecoming raffle ticket top sellers with cupcakes! These students were absent the day of our pizza party, and it was important to us that they were recognized for all of their hard work in supporting our school.
Thank you again to everyone who participated, and everyone who purchased tickets!
