I am Elizabeth Keener, and I teach Kindergarten through 5th Grade Music. I have a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Tulsa. I have been teaching in Claremore since 2006, the majority of which has been at Claremont. I love working at Claremont because the staff and faculty work so hard for our students. My husband Lee and I have been married for over 38 years, and we have three wonderful grown children: a police officer, a designer, and a watchmaker! I love playing with my grandbaby, reading, gardening, and cooking.

Mrs. Ramsey teaches her students procedures that make great readers such as: *Putting your pointer finger under the word. *Sitting up straight and tall. *Gliding their finger left to right to follow the words. These students are doing an excellent job learning procedures to become good readers each day! They LOVE to read!

Today Mr. Frazier takes you into the classroom of one of our finalists for District Teacher of the Year. @Karin Howell teaches 2nd grade at @Claremont Elementary and is a Class of 2008 CHS Alum. She is currently an Academic Language Practitioner and is working to become a certified Dyslexia Therapist. When asked why she is a teacher, she said, "Teaching is her caffeine. I could be exhausted, but as soon as those precious faces walk through my door, I overflow with energy and an abundance of pouring out love. By being a teacher, I become a better human. It challenges me in the utmost stressful ways. But through those challenges, the silver lining is shown. I wouldn't rather do ANYTHING else." When she found out, my husband accepted a Tulsa job; she started looking for jobs in her hometown, Claremore. She came across a position at Claremont and saw Mrs. @Randa Fey was the principal. She immediately desired to work under her because of the massive impact on her life as a high school student. That was in 2012, and she continues to enjoy working with her and growing under her leadership. Her favorite quote is, "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." – Ralph Waldo Emerson. Kindergarten students in Mrs. Crabb's class have been talking about MLK Jr., equality, and kindness this week. The students squeezed toothpaste on a plate then compared to when we speak to another person. Mrs. Crabb talked with her students about how we can't get the toothpaste back in the tube, much like we can not take hurtful words back after they are spoken. 💗

Today is another distance learning day, Claremont families! Growth Mindset is believing in the power of yourself and your brain! Developing the right mindset early on is crucial for a successful, happy life. When kids learn that putting forth effort and using the right strategies can help them get better at things, they feel empowered and try harder. Distance learning is different, and it can be hard. While working together today, encourage your student to take a different approach when facing a difficult assignment. Having a growth mindset can make all the difference!

My name is Karin Howell and I teach 2nd grade. I have been in education for 9 years, 4 of those at CPS. I attended Northeastern State University where I received a Bachelors in Science. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 7 years. We have two beautiful daughters, Hadley and Maci. Miss Hadley is active in Mrs. Bradfield's class here at Claremont and Maci is active at her grandma's house! We enjoy hiking, camping and kayaking! First and Foremost, I absolutely adore Mrs. Fay. She is one of the top reasons I continue onwards here at Claremont. I admire her integrity and encouragement that she portrays for ALL staff. Next, the ladies I work with demonstrate the most GRIT I have ever been around. Through thick and thin, they show up and do a TREMENDOUS job. I would trust any of these people with my own personal daughters. GO CLAREMONT!

4th grade students in Mrs. Schell's class do a weekly recitation based on their figurative language skill for the week. One way these students practice memorizing their figurative language skill is to hold a yoga pose while saying it. Practicing balance and memorization at the same time activates multiple parts of the brain, and therefore increases the ability to recall information.

Claremore Public School Celebrates School Board Recognition Month The Claremore Public School (CPS) District joins school districts throughout Oklahoma to celebrate School Board Recognition Month, Superintendent Bryan Frazier announced. "Our school board members are volunteers who shoulder critical responsibilities and often make difficult choices for our District, all without pay. Their goal focuses on the future success of the children in our District," Superintendent Frazier said. "Celebrating School Board Recognition Month is one way to say thanks for all they do."
