Our 5th graders are diving into the historical fiction novel Blood on the River!

This powerful story connects directly to our social studies standards as students learn about early explorers and the first settlement in the New World. Through this novel study, students are not only strengthening their reading skills but also experiencing history in an engaging, meaningful way.

We love seeing our Zebras make connections between literature and history!

Our 4th graders went on a Book Tasting adventure!

Students got the chance to “sample” different genres — from mystery to fantasy to nonfiction and more. Just like trying new foods, they explored new stories and discovered what they like best.

This fun and engaging activity is a great way to spark a love for reading and help students branch out into new book choices. We love seeing their excitement as they “taste test” the world of books!

Last Friday, our 4th graders took the stage at Rise & Shine, and it was truly something special!

They proudly recited the Preamble to the Constitution for the entire school and our guests. To make it even more meaningful, they held up signs showing the preamble rewritten in their own words.

This powerful moment reminded us of the importance of student voice, hard work, and creativity. We couldn’t be more proud of our 4th graders for shining so bright! What a wonderful way to celebrate the Constitution at #Claremont!

Every Thursday, we’re featuring a student who discovered one of Ms. Browning’s Winning Books! With over 100 hidden throughout the library, the only way to know you’ve found one is to check it out.

This program encourages students to branch out, explore new genres, and step outside their usual reading choices. Plus, the surprise prizes (which change monthly!) make it even more fun.

A big round of applause to Ms. Browning for creating such a rewarding and exciting way to celebrate reading!

Looks like "The Candy Smash" was the winner this time!

Our fifth graders did an incredible job leading our first (official) Rise and Shine of the year—it truly was a GOLDEN time at Claremont.

We kicked off our first Rise & Shine of the year by reviewing procedures, celebrating Students of the Month and August birthdays, and joining together for the Pledge of Allegiance and the Claremont Song at the beginning of September.

Lunch is always better together!
One of our amazing teachers chose to spend lunchtime with her students, and the smiles say it all. Moments like this remind us how powerful the partnership between teachers and students can be.

At #Claremont, we love building strong connections that help every child succeed!

Our amazing librarian, Ms. Browning, has kicked off a fun program that encourages students to step outside their comfort zone and explore books they might not have thought to check out. Some of these books are marked as “winners” — and when students discover one at checkout, they get to choose a prize!

Bryson was our very first Winning Book reader of the year!

Way to go, Bryson! #Claremont

In honor of Constitution Day, our 4th graders had a blast role-playing the three branches of government! They worked together to create and pass laws for our school. Each law had to begin in “Congress,” be reviewed by our nine “Justices,” and finally be signed by the “President” before becoming official. Some of the popular laws that successfully made it through all three branches included: 👉 No stabbing others with pencils. 👉 If you talk over the teacher, you must complete homework that night. To make it even more authentic, the students memorized and wrote The Preamble on scrolls! This Constitution Day activity brought government to life in a fun, hands-on way while helping students understand how checks and balances work! Way to go 4th grade!!

Our Pre-K doesn’t need an excuse to play with Play-Doh… but today we have one! It’s National Play-Doh Day and our littlest Zebras are having the best time creating, rolling, and squishing.

Play-Doh isn’t just fun — it’s important for young children, too! It helps build fine motor skills, strengthens hand muscles for future writing, sparks creativity, and encourages imaginative play.

What a perfect way to celebrate learning through play!
