Big things are happening in Claremore Jazz! Just last year, the Claremore High School Jazz Band was named the 2025 5A State Jazz Champions—and the excitement didn’t stop there. Since that incredible achievement, our jazz program has grown to three bands! 🎷
This past fall, WRJH launched its new Jazz Band, and students jumped right in, learning the unique grooves, rhythms, and styles that make jazz so different from traditional concert band.
At CHS, students now have even more opportunities with Beginning Jazz Band and Advanced Jazz Band. These classes allow students to dive deeper into the world of jazz while giving more musicians the chance to join in and experience this dynamic style of music.
All three bands have already had opportunities to travel and compete this year, and we are excited to see how these talented groups continue to grow and thrive!
Want to hear them live? 🎶
Stay tuned for details about their annual Jazz Coffeehouse Fundraiser—your chance to enjoy great music and support these amazing student musicians! 🎷☕

Art 1 and Art 2 are where creativity begins to take shape for many of our students. With the guidance of our extremely talented art teachers, students explore the foundations of visual art while developing the skills and confidence needed to grow as artists.
Throughout these courses, students learn about a variety of media and techniques while also practicing important skills such as observation, creativity, and self-evaluation. From drawing and painting to three-dimensional projects, students are encouraged to experiment, problem solve, and express their ideas in unique ways.
Students are also introduced to the world of Art History, discovering how artists from different cultures and time periods have influenced the art we see today. By connecting the past with their own creative work, students gain a deeper appreciation for the role art plays in our world.
Most importantly, Art 1 and Art 2 make learning fun while helping students build a strong artistic foundation that prepares them for more advanced art classes. From face painting at football games to their hard work in the classroom, we are proud of the creativity, dedication, and talent our students bring every day! 🎨

Marching Band and Guard isn’t just a class — it’s an experience.
Early mornings. Late nights. Hard work that pays off under the Friday night lights. Our students begin rehearsing before school even starts, preparing their show for the fall competition season. You can catch the Zebra Band bringing the energy with pep tunes in the stands and then showcasing all their hard work during the halftime performance.
Community spirit is at the heart of this program. From marching in parades and performing at pep assemblies to going on the homecoming tour, these students dedicate countless hours both on the field and in the classroom to perfect their marching and musicianship.
We are so proud of the commitment, discipline, and pride they bring to our schools and our community! 🎺🥁

🎭 Theatre in Our Schools Month🎭
At Claremore, we offer several Fine Arts courses that may not always be as visible as band, choir, or drama, but their impact on students is just as meaningful.
Speech and Debate are two of those classes. In Speech, students learn how to write and deliver different types of speeches while building communication skills that will benefit them not only in high school, but for years to come.
Debate offers students the opportunity to explore three different styles: Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, and Policy Debate. They learn how to build a case, write strong contentions, conduct research, and confidently present their ideas in front of others. Many students also have the chance to compete at the state, district, and even national levels.
Theatre Production, also known as Stagecraft, introduces students to the technical side of theatre. Students learn the basics of building sets, using power tools, working as a team, and problem-solving to bring productions to life. They also gain experience with costumes, props, lighting, sound, and scenery from both a design and construction perspective. There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of seeing their hard work on stage during the school’s plays and musicals — and these students are a vital part of making those productions happen.
Though each of these classes is very different, they ultimately show that Fine Arts truly has a place for everyone.

Our talented students recently competed in the Young Talent in Oklahoma (YTIO) statewide art showcase and we’re thrilled to celebrate some incredible achievements. Out of students from across the state, two Claremore artists placed in the Top 10!
Amelia Matthews earned FIRST PLACE with a powerful portfolio centered around her prosthetic leg and the way it has reshaped her identity. Through themes of femininity, strength, and what it means to be whole, Amelia’s work tells a deeply personal story of growth and resilience. As Amelia beautifully puts it: “Together, these pieces document my evolution, reclaiming my body not as something diminished, but as something reimagined and undeniably powerful.”
Paige Brower placed 6th in the state with a thoughtful portfolio exploring self-identity, the ways humor can act as a mask, and the symbolism behind embracing your true self. Paige shared: “These pieces reflect all sides of me—especially the parts I feel pressured to mask.”
We are incredibly proud of Amelia, Paige, and every student who represented Zebra Fine Arts at YTIO. The talent in this dazzle is truly something to celebrate!

Elementary music is about so much more than singing songs in class. It’s where students first discover the joy of music while building skills that will stay with them for years to come. Through engaging lessons and hands-on activities, students learn the basics of keeping a steady tempo, reading simple music, and expressing themselves through rhythm and melody.
Students also have the opportunity to explore instruments for the first time, often learning to play the recorder. This experience introduces them to the fundamentals of playing an instrument while helping develop coordination, listening skills, and musical confidence.
Our elementary students share their talents beyond the classroom as well. From Rise and Shine events to community performances and even larger stages, they experience the excitement of performing and being part of something special.
Music education at the elementary level helps students grow in confidence, creativity, and teamwork. It encourages listening, discipline, and self-expression while creating memories that make school even more meaningful.

🎨✨ Youth Art Month – Junior High Art Spotlight ✨🎨
These photos capture our junior high students fully engaged in creating caricatures of their classmates — and the enthusiasm has been incredible! Students have been deeply invested in both the creative process and the final results of their work.
Mrs. Breen, one of our outstanding WRJH Art teachers says "It’s exciting to see them confidently applying the concepts and techniques they’ve learned. Watching preparatory lessons and step-by-step instruction come to life in their finished pieces truly highlights their understanding and growth as artists. Projects like this showcase the joy of teaching art. Seeing students recognize their own progress, take pride in their accomplishments, and celebrate their creativity is both rewarding and inspiring."
Youth Art Month is the perfect time to celebrate the impact of artistic exploration and the confidence it builds in our classrooms. We are so proud of these talented young artists! 👏🖌️✨

🎭 Theatre in Our Schools Month 🎭
High School Drama is known for its fun and energetic atmosphere! Students explore the origins of theatre while developing skills in voice, movement, and characterization.
Drama isn’t just about acting — it also gives students a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to bring a production to life. From performance to production, students gain valuable experience that benefits anyone pursuing a college major or career that involves working with people.
Drama builds public speaking skills, self-confidence, and poise — tools that last a lifetime.
It’s always exciting to see what these talented students will bring to the stage, whether it’s quick-thinking improvisation or a perfectly polished monologue! 👏✨

🎶 Music in Our Schools Month 🎶
Claremore’s Vocal Music program offers performance-based classes for students beginning in 6th grade and continuing through high school.
At Will Rogers Junior High, students have two concert choirs designed to meet a variety of skill levels — from beginner to advanced. Students learn the fundamentals of vocal music, including sight-reading, harmonizing, and even singing in foreign languages. Along the way, they discover how fun and engaging choir truly is!
As students move into high school, they continue to grow and refine their skills, tackling more challenging and in-depth repertoire. Choir also provides exciting opportunities to travel and perform in new places, creating unforgettable experiences both on and off the stage.
We are proud of our dedicated vocal students and the passion they bring to every performance! 🎤✨

Today, we celebrate the incredible maintenance workers who make everyday life in our public school system possible. They keep our buildings safe, clean, and running smoothly — day in and day out, rain or shine, no matter the temperature.
Their hard work often happens behind the scenes, but its impact is seen and felt across every campus in our district.
Thank you to our dedicated maintenance team for all that you do. We truly appreciate your commitment, your hard work, and the care you show to our school sites each and every day! 👏✨
