Can you speak in code? Mrs. Rahn’s STEM students were spies this week sending coded messages to each other. They learned about coded languages like the Navajo Code Talkers and Morse Code. They designed & created Morse Code lighted transmitters. Professor Curt Sparling from RSU also visited and spoke to students about why the military uses coded messages, careers in cyber security and helped students make a cypher wheel. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

How many eggs survived the fall? Our high school physical science classes have studied Newtons Laws, force, mass, acceleration, and velocity. We ended the unit with an egg drop activity. One-third of the eggs survived the fall! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Have you ever wondered what it would be like on the International Space Station? 🚀 Mrs. Rahn's STEM students got the chance to FIND OUT! The 6th hour Stem students had an incredible opportunity to zoom with NASA’s SpaceX Crew 1 Astronauts! They researched the Crew 1 Mission and formulated some questions to ask them... two of their questions were answered! They participated with a few other classrooms from across the country. Thank you Smithsonian’s STEM in 30and Smithsonian’s Teacher Innovator Institute; our students learned so much about being an astronaut on the ISS! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

How cool is this? Mrs. Rahn's STEM students worked collaboratively to create a storyboard for their Ozobot robots. They planned, built and coded their storyboards for their Ozobot to run through. They had to carefully draw the coded color segments to program the Ozobots. Some students chose to reenact the Apollo 14 Mission to the moon and some chose Fairy Tales and Haunted Houses. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Which backpack is heavier? In Mrs. Naegele's class students are exploring the application of the greatest common factors in a real-world situation. When large groups go hiking and camping there is a lot of food and equipment that must be carried. Students were asked, " How can we use what we know about greatest common factors to distribute the load so that no one person is carrying too heavy of a pack? #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Do you know what Drip Art is? In Mrs. Brunjes-Hall's Art class, students are learning about Jen Stark Drip art. Jen Stark is an artist who creates art from the nature through amazing colors and bright patterns. What colorful art work! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Using a Gallery Walk activity, Mrs. Smith’s 7th grade Geography students are learning about the Holocaust which led to the formation of the State of Israel. They are discovering reasons for the anti-Semitism that preceded the genocide of European Jews as well as the United Nation’s decision to divide Palestine Arab and Jewish states after WWII. The students will soon study the reasons behind the Arab-Israeli conflict. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

How do you teach students about the different forms of matter and make it fun? You add Halloween into the lesson! Mrs. Hammack's class made witch’s brew (sprite floats) to learn about solids, liquids, and gases! And it tasted pretty good, too! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Congratulations to these students on making the Green Country Band Director’s Association Honor Bands! They will perform at the Robson PAC in January with the rest of selected members across the district! We are SO proud of you! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Can you spot the hidden moth? Newbury’s 8th grade science students have been studying natural selection and adaptations. They tried to recreate different types of camouflage and hide them around the classroom. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

FRIDAYS WITH FRAZIER Congratulations to our eight Site Teacher of the Year recipients. Their colleagues chose them to represent their site for consideration for the 2021-2022 Claremore Public Schools Teacher of the Year, announced later this month. Over the next several months, each teacher will create a dossier including a personal biography and essays on education issues and trends, community involvement, philosophy of teaching, and the teaching profession. A committee will review these documents, a lesson video and host an interview with each candidate. Stay tuned to learn more about each of these fantastic teachers and why their peers choose them to represent their school.
