Tea anyone? Today in Mrs. Hamby's class, they had a Boston tea party! The students discussed what they have learned about the 13 colonies, the taxes, and events leading up to the Revolutionary War. They drank tea and had snacks. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Rahn’s students took a quick field trip to the Claremore Museum of History to learn a little more about Claremore’s own astronaut Stuart A. Roosa. The MoH opened up early for us so all our classes could see the new exhibit and artifacts on Roosa. Students also visited the second generation Moon Trees, one at the museum and one at Roosa Elementary. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Students in Mrs. Tietz class went outside to do enrichment. They drew the plate boundaries (convergent, divergent and transform) with chalk. They then used shaving cream to act as the mantle and cut up paper towel rolls to act as the tectonic plates. They moved the plates over the mantle to show how the tectonic plates move at convergent, divergent and transform boundaries. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Would you dump shiploads of tea into water to protest taxes? Coach Dexter's class are simulating the Boston Tea Party where they were building tea crates to see if they could build one impervious to getting wet. Did they succeed? #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

How do you get a student interested in Thermal Energy? You make ICE CREAM!🍦 In Mr. Gregg's class, students made ice cream to go along with their Temperature and Thermal Energy labs. They applied the concepts they have learned about heat transfer. The heat was being transferred from the milk into the ice in order to make ice cream. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

In Mrs. Brunjes-Hall's Art class, students learned all about Calder Wire Mobiles. Initially trained as a mechanical engineer, Alexander Calder revolutionized the world of kinetic sculpture with his suspended mobiles. They studied Calder's work and created their own mobiles! Everyone learned a lot about literal balance, visual balance and the artwork of Alexander Calder. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

In Mrs. Roach's Art classes, students are learning about woven art. Weaving is a method of textile production in which two distinct sets of yarns or threads are interlaced at right angles to form a fabric or cloth. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Doesn't everyone LOVE glowsticks? In Mrs. Hammack's class, students are learning about thermal energy. Students are observing the effects of thermal energy on glow sticks. How fun! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Who built a better fort? Was in Washington or Mr. Dexter's History class? In 8th grade History, students are building forts and learning about Ft. Necessity and George Washington’s loss there at the French and Indian War. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Here's another "WOULD YOU RATHER" Wednesday from Mr. Dexter's class. This Wednesday, the question was - would you rather be trapped in an elevator or a basement? Would you rather Wednesday gives students two choices and they have to discuss with their partner which they would choose. This gives our students the ability to practice making eye contact and holding a conversation with someone. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
