Our 7th grade girls basketball team ended the season UNDEFEATED! They beat Pryor in the Conference Final this weekend 37-10! Coach Bump and Coach Davis are very excited about the future of this basketball program! Lots of improvements in all areas this season! Go Zebras!

CPS treated our bus drivers with breakfast today in honor of NATIONAL BUS DRIVER APPRECIATION WEEK.
WRJH Girls in STEM Club participated in the Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance's Women in STEM event. The girls entered a shoe challenge to design a versatile woman's shoe appropriate for a corporate and manufacturing setting. One of our teams took 1st place in the safest shoe design! These young women also participated in breakout sessions which included a science experiment, using robotics, inquiry-based math and an engineering challenge. Dr. Kayse Shrum, Oklahoma Secretary of Science was the keynote speaker and she encouraged the girls to "Be the Best Version of Yourself" and to "Dream Big and Live with Purpose". Thank you Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance for this amazing and inspirational opportunity! Wendee Henry of Claremore was also honored as a Woman of STEM and was a guest at our table!

Ms. Scott from the Noble Research Institute visited Mrs. Tietz’s class. The students extracted DNA from strawberries. They put it in vials and were able to take it home. What a great experience!

Mrs. Moore, also from The Noble Institute, visited Mrs. Simpson's class where they got to review the concept that all living things have DNA and learn how to extract DNA from a strawberry. Now that's a science experiment!

Mrs. Shilling's 6th grade choir students went to Owasso High School and auditioned for and attended “Circle the State with Song”. Students auditioned in class, learned 8 concert songs, and spent the entire Saturday singing in rehearsals with Michael Shimp, the guest clinician, and kids from the northeast region of Oklahoma. They performed an amazing concert at the end of the day!

Although CPS was out of school for two snow days last week, the CPS Academic Calendar will remain the same for the 2019-20 school year. All scheduled holidays, breaks, graduation, and the last day of school will not be affected.

What a GREAT weekend for Claremore Robotics! All of the teams did a great job! Here are the categories:
Teams 8634B and 8634A won the Junior High tournament
Team 8634B won the high skills score for Junior High Team 8634A won the Excellence award for Junior High Team 8634E won the Judges award
Team 8634F and 8634G made it to the semifinals before losing to the two other Claremore teams
All of the teams worked hard and represented Claremore well! We have a great group of students and are very proud of all of them!

The Junior High wrestling season has come to an end. It was a season of growing for the young Zebras!
Congratulations to Vivian Scuggins and Josh Feliciano for placing 4th at the state tournament. Josh is our first 6th/7th grade HWT to finish in the top 4 at the JH state tournament. Vivian is Claremore's first ever girl to place at either Junior High or High School state tournament!
The future is bright for them and the rest of our Junior High team!

Construction update for the first week of February!
Work is progressing! Concrete is being poured today in the front of the building, and the demolition of the area south of the cafeteria has begun!

WRJH students competed in a Penny War during the week of Jan 27th. The student body raised over $400 to donate to Australia to help with wildlife recovery efforts from the wildfires. WRJH would like to thank Patsy’s Sno Cones and Party Place for providing FREE sno cones to the winning pod. Thank you so much for your contributions to WRJH over the years!
