Captain Smoot from the ABLE Commission spoke with WRJH students about the risks of vaping, making good choices, and going over the new policies and consequences of vaping at school. Fines for Vaping/Tobacco Possession at School: 1st Time- $100 or 10 hours of community service 2nd Time- $200 or 20 hours of community service 3rd Time- $300 or 30 hours of community service Students will not be allowed to receive an Oklahoma drivers license until or unless the fine is paid or community service has been completed.

Mrs. Lane's classes are currently working on a mock trial. They are using a case file that includes exhibits and a nonfiction story to pull evidence to prove their case. By working on gathering information and organizing it for their mock trial, they are working on standards that focus on argumentative writing. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Staff spotlight on Ms. Gardner: My name is Mallory Gardner and I was born to military parents in Misawa, Japan. I grew up in Houston, Texas after my parents starting working with NASA, and graduated from Clear Lake High School. I was the third generation in my family to attend Oklahoma State, graduating in 2015 with my bachelor's degree. After graduation, I moved to Vacaville, California for a short time before returning to Oklahoma to begin my teaching career in Fall 2017. I currently teach 6th grade English to some of the best students I have ever had the pleasure of teaching! 2019 WRJH Veteran's Day Assembly

As people march in parades, wave their flags, salute their soldiers, and speak of the sacrifices the men and women of our armed forces today, we are taking the time to honor the staff of Claremore Public Schools that have served our great nation. We also acknowledge their calling and continued service the future of this nation as teachers and influencers here where we are shaping the next generation. We will never be able to repay the debt we owe the brave men and women who have served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. Mrs. Boyd's 7th grade science class is studying adaptations in organisms. One type of adaptation is camouflage. Students were asked to predict which color of prey would be easiest to find and hardest to find. They were then given 5 minutes to collect as many prey as possible. After hunting they sorted each prey by color, completed questions, looked at the data in a spreadsheet and completed a graph comparing their data and class data to determine if their predictions were supported. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

I have a Bachelor's in Elementary Education from Northeastern State University. My husband, Kyle, serves in the U.S. Air Force. We have three children, Cash, Ian, and Myra-Jane. We had a special guest yesterday, Lt. Col. Eric Jauquet from the Oklahoma Air National Guard. Lt. Col. Jauquet spoke to Mrs. Rahn's STEM Exploration class about flying the F-16 and serving our community and country. He spoke to students about his career as a pilot and the schooling/training required to accomplish his goal. He also told the students about the different missions he served. Students even got to try parts of his G-suit that protect the pilot from physical stress of acceleration by compressing the body to keep blood from pooling in the legs. The students had great questions for him like "What type of engineer develops the helmet you wear on the plane?" "What kind of training is required to become a pilot? We want to thank Lt. Col. Jauquet for sharing his career and his stories. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
