2019 WRJH Veteran's Day Assembly
As people march in parades, wave their flags, salute their soldiers, and speak of the sacrifices the men and women of our armed forces today, we are taking the time to honor the staff of Claremore Public Schools that have served our great nation. We also acknowledge their calling and continued service the future of this nation as teachers and influencers here where we are shaping the next generation. Here's to the four service women at CPS: Darla Meisinger, Karen Olari, Lisa Puglsey and Brandy Albert.
Give them a #CPSZEBRAPRIDE shout-out below for their service.

“Veterans know better than anyone else the price of freedom, for they’ve suffered the scars of war. We can offer them no better tribute than to protect what they have won for us.” - President Ronald Reagan, 1983
We honor our final three staff members who have served: Bruce Riggs, Ben Russell, and Jake Steven. Let's show them some #CPSZEBRAPRIDE and admiration of their service in the comments below.

To all the proud MEN AND WOMEN who have served or are currently serving our Armed Services we say THANK YOU and Happy VETERANS DAY. Your sacrifices and duty of service have given us the freedoms we so freely exercise every single day. The price of freedom is not free. Thank you! Thank a veteran today and show your appreciation. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE #USPRIDE

We will never be able to repay the debt we owe the brave men and women who have served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. But today on Veterans Day, we set aside some time to commemorate those that have served and those that continue to serve so we can sit in this school and learn about the freedoms their sacrifices have bestowed on us. Let us learn from their courage, sacrifice, faithfulness, reliability, self-discipline, and motivation.
THANK YOU to Claremore Public Schools Staff, who have served and continue to serve our great nation.
Our first three are: Commander Murry Estabrook, Steve Janke, and Chief Skip Jasper. Show them a little #CPSZEBRAPRIDE and appreciation in the comments below.

Mrs. Boyd's 7th grade science class is studying adaptations in organisms. One type of adaptation is camouflage. Students were asked to predict which color of prey would be easiest to find and hardest to find. They were then given 5 minutes to collect as many prey as possible. After hunting they sorted each prey by color, completed questions, looked at the data in a spreadsheet and completed a graph comparing their data and class data to determine if their predictions were supported.

We had a special guest yesterday, Lt. Col. Eric Jauquet from the Oklahoma Air National Guard. Lt. Col. Jauquet spoke to Mrs. Rahn's STEM Exploration class about flying the F-16 and serving our community and country. He spoke to students about his career as a pilot and the schooling/training required to accomplish his goal. He also told the students about the different missions he served. Students even got to try parts of his G-suit that protect the pilot from physical stress of acceleration by compressing the body to keep blood from pooling in the legs. The students had great questions for him like "What type of engineer develops the helmet you wear on the plane?" "What kind of training is required to become a pilot?
We want to thank Lt. Col. Jauquet for sharing his career and his stories.

Mrs. Newbury's HS Physical Science class has been learning about acids, bases, and PH. They are learning about the chemical reasons that acids and bases do the jobs that they do. They played with PH paper as well to try and figure out the PH of common things that we drink.

Today, in Mrs. Rice's class, we learned about developed and developing countries. Each student took on the role of a different country. We examined average annual income, average annual healthcare spending, average percentage of people immunized for measles, average number of doctors per 100,000 people, average life expectancy, access to clean drinking water, average percent of children who live past 5 years old, malaria threat, and average percent of kids enrolled in school. The students got to take steps forward or backwards depending on the stats for their country. Then they participated in a race. This prompted great discussions about how some countries had an unfair advantage in the race and how that relates to the real world.
Mrs. Naegele's class exploring a DESMOS card sort: composing and decomposing parallelograms to find area and perimeter of parallelograms.
