Mrs. Seidel's Roll in the New Year Challenge is coming to an end. Only 1 week left. SIGNED papers are due Friday Jan 31. Each student that reaches Gold (20 days) or Silver (15 days) will be recognized at Rise and Shine on Friday February 7th. *Papers must be signed*
Our 5th graders are working on their writing skills. Last week they wrote about what it would be like to wake up as a square. If you have a 5th grader ask them what they wrote about! There are some really fun and creative stories!! I enjoyed reading them.

With the recent resignation of Claremore Public School board member, Brandon Wofford - Ward 5, the CPS Board of Education is now taking applications to fill the vacant seat. The Board of Education has sixty (60) days to fill this vacancy beginning January 1, 2020. All applicants must live within the boundaries of Ward 5 to be considered. You can find the school board map on the Claremore Public School website. If you are interested in speaking to or serving on the Claremore School Board, please contact Superintendent Bryan Frazier at bfrazier@claremore.k12.ok.us. The Board of Education will appoint the vacant seat on February 10, 2020. The deadline for consideration will be February 1, 2020.

Claremore Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, January 20th, in honor of Martin Luther King Day.
Schools will resume on Tuesday, January 21st.

Mrs. Hall and the STEAM club are building Robots!!! The students get to decide which style robot they want to build. Students can program the robots to walk or drive around, bend over and even pick up items. Videos will be coming when they are completed so stay tuned!!!

**Attention 5th grade parents**
Mrs. Hall has started working on the slide show of the 5th grade graduation!!! She is needing each student to bring approx 10 pictures. Pictures are due by Jan 31.
Ms. McCracken received her new rug yesterday!!! Thank you Claremore Public Schools Foundation for funding her grant.

Mrs. Coffey’s art class is making God’s eye (Ojo de Dios) yarn crafts. In Mexico, the central eye is made when a child is born. Each year, a bit of yarn is added until the child turns 5 at which point the Ojo is complete!!!

Mrs Shuck got to join in on the fun in Mrs Coffey’s art class today. She made her own God’s eye yarn craft!!

Native American Club met Monday after school. They made beaded necklaces and bracelets using authentic animal bone beads. They also went outside to see how the Native Americans were able to tell what time it was using only shadows!

One of my favorite things we do at Catalayah is book buddies!! Mrs. Townsend's Kindergarten class and Ms. Brown's 3rd grade class got to enjoy spending time together last week.

Before Winter Break the students that sold the most raffle tickets enjoyed a pizza lunch with Michelle Linn from Fox 23 News. They were in a special VIP room and enjoyed pizza, lemonade and cookies. Thank you Michelle Linn from coming to spend time with these kids. They loved it!
