Do you remember hearing about the Jr. Chef Competition? Catalayah was proud to host this exciting event — and two of our very own students, Ethan and Blake, were invited to compete! These young chefs put their culinary skills to the test as they planned, prepared, and presented their dishes in front of a panel of judges. From teamwork to technique, they did an amazing job and made us so proud! It was such a fun and flavorful competition, and we loved seeing our students shine in the kitchen. Way to go, Ethan and Blake — future chefs in the making! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

We had a fantastic time with the Rogers County Master Gardeners today! They led us through a fun, hands-on lesson all about plants. We explored the different parts of a plant — from roots to petals — and even created our own flower diagrams using real seeds! It was an engaging and educational experience, and we’re so thankful they took the time to visit us. Be sure to check them out this summer at the Learning Garden by RSU! They’ll have a special butterfly exhibit in June that you won’t want to miss! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Zebra Stripes Program is an after-school program that is held during the school year and the summer season. Our program’s focus is to provide exceptional care for kindergarten through fifth grade. The program will offer activities that will be age-appropriate and provide the children with social, emotional, and physical development. Buffalo Wild Wings ended Teacher Appreciation Week with a bang! They spoiled our staff with a delicious spread — fresh salads, flavorful wraps, chips and salsa, and just about every sauce you can imagine. It was amazing! But the fun didn’t stop there… they brought the Buffalo mascot along for surprise classroom visits! The students (and teachers!) loved it — what a fun and memorable treat! A huge thank you to Buffalo Wild Wings for going above and beyond to make our staff feel so appreciated. We are so grateful! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Say it with me, class… SPOILED! Our amazing PTO made sure we were absolutely pampered during Teacher Appreciation Week — and we felt every bit of the love! They went above and beyond with lunches, snacks, drinks, desserts, a fun photo op, and even a swag bag for every single staff member. Talk about feeling valued! We truly have the best PTO around, and we can’t thank them enough for their generosity, thoughtfulness, and constant support. For Teacher Appreciation Week, our amazing PTO treated us to lunch from the Marshall Family Food Truck — and wow, it did not disappoint! Their food is absolutely delicious, and the service is just as wonderful. You have to try it! Even better, the truck itself is an adorable, eye-catching yellow school bus that adds an extra touch of fun and nostalgia to the whole experience. Ms. Loyd’s 5th grade scientists have been diving into ecosystem studies by constructing their own biome dioramas! Each student chose a unique biome—like the tundra, ocean, desert, mountain, or Antarctic—and researched the biotic and abiotic factors that define it. Using what they learned, they created detailed models and presented facts about two plant and two animal species, explaining how each one is specially adapted to survive in its environment. From camouflage in the Arctic to water conservation in desert plants, these students brought real-world science to life through creativity and critical thinking. This hands-on project supported their understanding of ecological relationships, climate conditions, and species adaptations—and the results were both informative and impressive! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

🔥🍖 BBQ dreams came true this week! 🍖🔥 A BIG, BIG thank you to our incredibly kind friend who donated lunch from Red’s BBQ Truck to the Catalayah staff earlier this week! Your generosity filled our bellies and our hearts — and we are SO grateful! Y’all… it was sooooooo good. We're talkin' mouthwatering, finger-lickin', "don't-talk-to-me-I'm-eating" kind of good. 😋 If you haven’t had Red’s BBQ Truck, stop what you’re doing and go find them! Mrs. Griffin visited a few classes for a hands-on science lesson all about clouds and rain! Students learned how clouds form when warm air rises, cools, and condenses into tiny water droplets. When those droplets join together and get too heavy—down comes the rain! It was an exciting, interactive way to bring weather science to life. 🎉💿 As if we could forget this week! 💿🎉 Our PTO has totally spoiled us for Teacher Appreciation Week and we are feeling all the love! 💖 🕶️ They kicked things off with a nacho bar on Monday that was all that and a bag of chips! 🥤 Tuesday, they rolled in with Sonic drinks for every staff member—talk about a major upgrade from our usual sips! 🍭 Then on Wednesday, they dropped off some far-out 90’s snacks that took us straight back to the good old days! Ring Pops, Gushers, Dunkaroos—you name it! But wait—there’s more! Our amazing PTO came up this weekend to decorate the school with the most righteous 90s vibes. From neon colors to boom boxes, it was a total blast from the past. 🛼 THANK YOU, PTO! You’ve made this week da bomb and we’ve loved every single second of it!
