Have you ever wanted to be one of our amazing PTO members?? Now is the time!! Our PTO is wonderful. They do so much for our school, students and staff!! Some of the things they do are the Carnival, candy grams, Santa Shop, Santa Pictures, they also provide breakfast and lunches for our staff throughout the year and help with Holiday Meals at the school. Mark your calendar- July 11th is their summer planning meeting. They would love for you to join them. Friday Favorites!!! Mrs. Roller said one of her favorite things to do in the summer is finding a random Oklahoma beach to swim at! Last week she went to Keystone Lake with her sister and nephew! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Throwback Thursday!! Look at these Zebra Baseball players!! They were dressed up for Red Ribbon Week a few years ago. Have you been to any of the Zebra Baseball games this summer?? #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mr. Hughes had a few 4th graders come and "assist" with Kindergarten PE. I'm not sure who had more fun, the 4th graders or the kindergarteners. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

IT'S NATIONAL MASCOT DAY!!!! Claremore High School football team became known as the “Zebras” in the 1920s when the football received new stripped jerseys; at one of the games, a spectator noted that “they look like a bunch of zebras,” and the name stuck. Did you know those first stripes uniforms were purple and gold...... In 1930 the superintendent of schools Homer C. Heard was trying to keep costs down when it came time to order new uniforms again. He faced the economic situation by ordering cheaper red shirts and white khaki pants. Red and white remain as Claremore's school colors today. The Zebra has been a mainstay. Mascots like the Tigers and the Cardinals and the Eagles can be found all over the sports landscape. Claremore is the ONLY school with the Zebra Mascot!! It's a Great day to be a ZEBRA!!!!! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Throwback Thursday!! This was during a Fire Safety Assembly just a few years ago. Lol!! In this part of the assembly the mother and daughter were meeting at their safe place incase of a fire!! Have you talked to your kids about a safe meeting place??? If not, now is the perfect time! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

We had more helpers earlier this week!!! Catalayah has a lot of moving going on this summer. Thankfully we have had several helpers come and help us move furniture and other things. Huge shout out to these kids for coming to help on their summer break!!! They got A LOT of work done! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Our very own Ms. Henry got the chance to go to a week long professional development in Alabama called Space Academy for Educators. She met educators from all over the the United States and even one from Australia. Once there she did astronaut training simulators and did activities made to help promote learning for the classroom. Which type of astronaut training would you want to do? Ms. Henry’s favorite was the MAT (multi-axis trainer) the sphere. “I didn’t think I would like it and I was super nervous. I still did it anyway and it turned out to be my favorite thing, I even did it twice!” - Ms. Henry They also have camps for students, families, and adults. https://www.rocketcenter.com/SpaceCamp Her activities included: -Building Model Rockets -Experienced 3Gs -Listened to David Hitt talk about Skylab and got a signed book by him. -Then of course listened and talked with SpaceX Astronaut Dr. Sian Proctor as an educator herself at the collegiate level she understood how important it was for us to get pictures for our students. She won her way to space through her art and poetry. She was also the first black female to pilot a space vehicle and the 4th black female in space. -We had our first mission, I worked in and outside of the ISS. PAYCOM also enjoyed us doing the macarena for them. - Model Rocket Launch - We saw Homer Hickam and Dr. Proctor talking and it was funny because they were both so excited to see each other. - The planetarium - Saw Miss Baker’s grave (a space monkey) - MAT (Multi-Axis Trainer) - Orion Mission Control - GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Control) - 1/6th chair - aka Moon Walking - “Helicopter Crash” - Homer Hickam - Rocket Boys/October Sky How COOL!!! We are so excited Ms. Henry got to go on this trip. We can't wait to see what she brings to her classroom this year. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Each year, local Masonic Lodges across Oklahoma honor outstanding students with the Student of Today award, a certificate recognizing that student for his or her accomplishments, including GPA, leadership and general personal and academic development. Our local Masonic Lodge also awards one outstanding teacher with a Teacher of Today award. During our 5th grade graduation Benjamin Dinh and Bella Thomas were awarded with the Student of Today awards!! Mrs. Ritter was awarded the Teacher of Today!! Great job to these students and teacher. Catalayah is very proud of you all! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Well we have had all our field trips, graduations, track and field day and last day of school. We have prepared our 5th graders for the Jr High!!! Mrs. Shuck enjoyed saying "tag you're it" in the pick up line on Friday. It's officially SUMMER TIME!!! Thanks for another great year Catalyah families!!!! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
