Catalayah Elementary

Every day, each student has the opportunity to earn a “Character Counts” certificate. Any adult in the building can give them out when they notice a student showing exceptional character traits. When a student receives the certificate, the teacher recognizes them in the moment, praising them for following the life principles, or character traits, that help us to become better humans. Students place their “Character Counts” in a box, and the following morning during rise and shine, the student’s name is called, they stand, and the entire school gives them two power claps. A random winner is chosen daily and has their photo posted on the wall for everyone to see. The winner also receives a small prize that has been donated by local businesses! Every single Character Counts certificate is displayed on the wall and students love searching for their own. Sometimes they are hard to find... because there are so many! The total number of Character Counts for the 2023-2024 school year is……….. 3,057! Great Job Catalayah Students!!!! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Earlier this week Mrs. Douthitt's class brought their favorite stuffed animal to school for show and tell day. They even made little beds for them! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Each year, local Masonic Lodges across Oklahoma honor outstanding students with the Student of Today award, a certificate recognizes students for their accomplishments, including GPA, leadership and general personal and academic development. Our local Masonic Lodge also awards one outstanding teacher with a Teacher of Today award. During our 5th grade graduation Brenley Branco and Haskel Tally were awarded with the Student of Today awards!! Mrs. Casey was awarded the Teacher of Today, this morning at Rise and Shine!! Great job to these students and teacher. Catalayah is very proud of you all! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Ms. Jarrett's class read the cutest book, The Couch Potato by Jory John, and talked about ways that we could avoid being a couch potato this summer. 🤣 Then, they went outside to get some much needed fresh air! ✨ #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Track and Field Day is Monday!!! It looks like the weather is going to be great! Here are a few reminders! Sunscreen!! It's going to be hot and sunny so please apply sunscreen to your child in the morning. Water Bottle- Please make sure you send a water bottle with their name on it. Dry Clothes- Not Necessary but they will be playing water games and might want to change clothes. 3rd-5th grade will be doing their activities outside in the morning and Kindergarten-2nd will be outside after lunch. If you signed up to volunteer- the morning session starts at 8:30 and the afternoon session at 12:00. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Ms. Henry took the Catalayah STEM club on a field trip with the Junior High. They visited Rye Designs, a big thank you to Andy and Sarah. Students were able to learn about robotics. They also were able to maneuver/drive a robotic arm! Then they went to Braum’s to have a special lunch. Lastly, they visited the Claremore Museum of History where students were able to learn about our history. "As their social studies teacher also, it was so much fun to take them around and tell them everything I knew about each of the exhibits!" #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
