Buffalo Wild Wings ended Teacher Appreciation Week with a bang! They spoiled our staff with a delicious spread — fresh salads, flavorful wraps, chips and salsa, and just about every sauce you can imagine. It was amazing! But the fun didn’t stop there… they brought the Buffalo mascot along for surprise classroom visits! The students (and teachers!) loved it — what a fun and memorable treat! A huge thank you to Buffalo Wild Wings for going above and beyond to make our staff feel so appreciated. We are so grateful! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

For Teacher Appreciation Week, our amazing PTO treated us to lunch from the Marshall Family Food Truck — and wow, it did not disappoint! Their food is absolutely delicious, and the service is just as wonderful. You have to try it! Even better, the truck itself is an adorable, eye-catching yellow school bus that adds an extra touch of fun and nostalgia to the whole experience. We are so grateful to our PTO for thinking of us and to the Marshall Family for sharing their incredible food and kindness. What a treat! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Happy #SchoolPRDay! 🎉 Today, on the second Friday of May, we celebrate @NSPRA National School Communicators Day, dedicated to the talented individuals who craft our school’s narratives, share our triumphs, and keep everyone connected. Today, we shine the spotlight on those who work magic behind the screens, behind the lens, behind the stories! Whether they’re known around here as the "Facebook guru," "website wizard," "bossy lady," or "school paparazzi,"—you get the picture (catch that pun 📷). Each title just scratches the surface of their many talents. Thank you to everyone who helps us connect, communicate, celebrate, and cultivate a strong partnership with our CPS families and community. Here’s to the stories we tell and the memories we cherish! And to the unsung heroes of our team - our staff, students, interns, and the community, for your contributions. Your vibrant #CPSZEBRAPRIDE is the heartbeat of our storytelling. We couldn’t weave these wonderful tales without your fantastic photos, lively updates, and engaging content. 📷 Jamie Brace - Executive Director of Communications 📷 Chloe Zickefoose - District Communications Specialist 📷 Zong Moua - District Comms/Multimedia Specialist 📷 Asia Roper - CHS Intern 📷 Grace Waters - CHS Intern 📷 Rachel Salcido - Catalayah Elementary Cadre’ 📷 Tia Henson - Claremont Elementary Cadre’ 📷 Mary Kropp - Roosa Elementary School Cadre’ 📷 Lauren Hamilton - Westside Elementary Cadre’ 📷 Melissa Jauquet - Will Rogers Junior High Cadre’ 📷 Meranda Golbek - Claremore High School 📷 Andrea Chapman - Fine Arts Cadre’ So rock that #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The end of the school year is near—and we still have 186 library books checked out! 😱 With only 10 days left, it’s time to check those backpacks, bedroom shelves, and even under the couch cushions! Let’s work together to get every single book back to the library before the last day. Returning your books helps us keep our library full of great reads for everyone next year—so don’t wait! 📅 Turn them in ASAP! 🔍 Find them, stack them, bring them! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Ms. Loyd’s 5th grade scientists have been diving into ecosystem studies by constructing their own biome dioramas! Each student chose a unique biome—like the tundra, ocean, desert, mountain, or Antarctic—and researched the biotic and abiotic factors that define it. Using what they learned, they created detailed models and presented facts about two plant and two animal species, explaining how each one is specially adapted to survive in its environment. From camouflage in the Arctic to water conservation in desert plants, these students brought real-world science to life through creativity and critical thinking. This hands-on project supported their understanding of ecological relationships, climate conditions, and species adaptations—and the results were both informative and impressive! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

🔥🍖 BBQ dreams came true this week! 🍖🔥 A BIG, BIG thank you to our incredibly kind friend who donated lunch from Red’s BBQ Truck to the Catalayah staff earlier this week! Your generosity filled our bellies and our hearts — and we are SO grateful! Y’all… it was sooooooo good. We're talkin' mouthwatering, finger-lickin', "don't-talk-to-me-I'm-eating" kind of good. 😋 If you haven’t had Red’s BBQ Truck, stop what you’re doing and go find them! Seriously — you will NOT be disappointed. Thank you again to our amazing friend for fueling our day with such a delicious treat! We felt the love! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Griffin visited a few classes for a hands-on science lesson all about clouds and rain! Students learned how clouds form when warm air rises, cools, and condenses into tiny water droplets. When those droplets join together and get too heavy—down comes the rain! It was an exciting, interactive way to bring weather science to life. Check out the smiles and curiosity in these photos! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

🎉💿 As if we could forget this week! 💿🎉 Our PTO has totally spoiled us for Teacher Appreciation Week and we are feeling all the love! 💖 🕶️ They kicked things off with a nacho bar on Monday that was all that and a bag of chips! 🥤 Tuesday, they rolled in with Sonic drinks for every staff member—talk about a major upgrade from our usual sips! 🍭 Then on Wednesday, they dropped off some far-out 90’s snacks that took us straight back to the good old days! Ring Pops, Gushers, Dunkaroos—you name it! But wait—there’s more! Our amazing PTO came up this weekend to decorate the school with the most righteous 90s vibes. From neon colors to boom boxes, it was a total blast from the past. 🛼 THANK YOU, PTO! You’ve made this week da bomb and we’ve loved every single second of it! Your time, creativity, and generosity mean the world to us. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

We have chicks! Ms. Henry’s eggs have officially hatched, and her classroom is full of fluffy new arrivals. She started with 18 eggs, carefully incubated them, and lovingly cared for them every step of the way. Once they hatched, she took the adorable chicks on a school-wide tour so all the students could meet the newest members of our Catalayah family! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Griffin’s first grade WIN groups just wrapped up an exciting cross-curricular unit all about the seasons! Students discovered why we have spring, summer, fall, and winter by exploring the science behind Earth’s tilt and orbit. Along the way, they sharpened their reading and writing skills too—proving that learning can be as fun as a sunny spring day! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week, and we’re ready to celebrate the incredible educators who make Catalayah such a special place! From the moment the bell rings to the final wave goodbye, our teachers give their hearts, time, and talent to help students grow, dream, and succeed. They spark curiosity, build confidence, and fill our school with joy every single day. We are so lucky to have a team of teachers who go above and beyond—not because they have to, but because they love to. To our amazing Catalayah teachers: this week is for YOU. Thank you for all you do! “A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, and touches a heart.” #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
