Mrs. Reynold's class celebrated their knowledge of restaurant vocabulary by transforming the classroom into a restaurant, complete with kitchen staff and servers. Students designed very creative menus with unique restaurant names and menu items. The kitchen staff and servers did an amazing job of working together and taking customers’ orders in Spanish. Customers practiced their newly acquired vocabulary by placing their orders in Spanish, and paid for their meal with “pesos”. Students had a great time socializing and enjoyed chips and salsa with practicing their skills.

Start the semester off on the right foot by getting to school on time! Remember the best way to set yourself up for success is being present! Students, we can't wait to see you back tomorrow morning. Don't forget, it is a new semester, and you will need to report to your third block classes.

Over the past semester, Mr. Z's AP English Language students explored the art of rhetoric, focusing on the skill of persuasion . For their capstone project, students selected topics of personal interest and were tasked with convincing their classmates why their chosen topics are important. To further refine their oratory and communication skills, students delivered compelling arguments in front of their peers and even some faculty members through what Mr. Z likes to call ZED Talks, showcasing their ability to articulate and defend their viewpoints effectively.

Mrs. Gonzalez's Spanish class explored the cultural significance of piñatas in a hands-on and engaging way. After learning about their history and traditions, students worked in groups to create their own colorful piñatas. The highlight of the experience came when they had the chance to embrace their inner child and break open their creations to enjoy the treats inside. This interactive activity brought learning to life and made for an unforgettable and fun-filled day!

Mrs. Huddleston's Graphic Design class recently completed an exciting Project-Based Learning (PBL) activity with a real-world twist. Students assumed roles as designers at "Big Z Graphic Design" and were tasked by their "supervisor" to develop a new video game concept. The project included multiple phases: brainstorming their idea, creating a rough sketch layout on grid paper, and designing a professional-quality cover in Photoshop, incorporating an Adobe Illustrator component they created. To bring their concepts to life, their designs were printed and placed on DVD cases. The project culminated in presentations to a panel of CHS teachers, where students showcased their creativity, technical skills, and ability to execute a design project from concept to completion. This immersive experience was both challenging and rewarding, giving students a glimpse into the graphic design industry.

Intro to Plant, Food, and Fiber finished up their semester by knocking out the safety test to have the opportunity to get into the shop. After they completed testing, students had the opportunity to use the Miller Augmented Arc Virtual Reality system! This helped students gain first hand experience before scratching an arc out in the welding booth to better understand why placement of the hands and speed of the electrode are important. This opportunity will allowed students to be hands on, but also explore the opportunities in AG Power and Technology next year!
