My name is Madison Lopez and I am the Zebra Stripes Director for Claremont. I have been in education for 6 years and all of those have been with CPS. I attended RSU, and received a Bachelors degree in Biology.
I live at home with my parents, sister, and two rescue dogs. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and listening to music, and am always looking for fun and creative activities for Zebra Stripes.
My favorite quote is "Only you can control your future," by Dr. Seuss.

Mrs. Ward's spider plant is the 'plant that keeps on giving!'
After sending plant "babies" home with each 1st grade student, these 1st graders began gifting spider plant babies to each person in the building who has been a helper for them. Here, these 1st graders gift a plant to our Library Media Specialist, Mrs. Troyer.

4th grade students in Mrs. Ramsey's WIN group are working on text structures: Description, Cause/Effect, Compare/Contrast, Problem/Solution, and Chronological Sequence. Students had to read a story, determine the text structure, make a graphic organizer, and then present the evidence to the group describing the text structure with story details.

Mrs. Miles' 3rd-5th grade GT students had fun applying what they learned about oil derricks, from an OERB video, and putting it to the test by creating their own derricks. They could only use straws, paper clips, and tape, that they had to 'purchase' using future profits. Then each tower was assessed to see how much weight it could hold in grams. The challenge was to see which groups' oil derrick turned the most profit, after the costs of supplies.
Here you can see the 3rd/4th grade groups and their derricks.
