Today is a distance learning day, Zebra family!
One way to help distance learning go more smoothly, is to help your child learn how to focus. Here are some of our favorite tips and tricks:
1. Jump right into distance learning. The longer you put it off, the harder it can be to focus on it.
2. Limit directions to one or two at a time. Try not to overload your child with too many directions at once.
3. Set a timer. Set a timer for how long your child needs to work before having a snack or a break.
4. Try mindfulness. Mindfulness exercises can help improve behavior and ability to focus.
5. Be open to what works. Ask your child what works best for them. Some children prefer quiet to work, while others prefer background noise.
6. Direct focus back to the task. Come up with a signal for when your child's mind starts to wander. Practice this when you notice them getting off task.

Who: New PK - New Kindergarten students that did not attend PK here in Claremore Schools.
Date: March 8-12, by appointment.
Bring: Documents required for enrollment at Claremore Schools. No child will be enrolled without the following information and up-to-date immunization records.
✅ Birth Certificate - Age Requirements are:
Early Childhood students must be 4 years old by September 1st.
Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by September 1st.
✅ 2 Proofs of Residency (may include utility bill or utility deposit, and a lease agreement, mortgage statement, or county tax statement. P.O. Box addresses are NOT acceptable.)
✅ Immunization Record (must be up-to-date)
✅Parent/ Guardian Driver License
✅CDIB Card (Native American citizenship registration card) if applicable.

My name is Dawn Smith. I teach 1st and 2nd grade. I have been in education for 20 years, and all of those have been with CPS.
I attended Northeastern State University where I received a degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Mild-Moderate Disabilities.
I have two sons, three dogs, several cats and a bunny rabbit. I enjoy being outside and reading a good book!
I love Claremont! It is a school that is truly devoted to the needs of all students. Claremont has wonderful, caring teachers that work hard on a daily basis to give every student what is needed individually to ensure social, emotional, and academic success.

Kindergarten is learning about Dinosaurs! Mrs. Jones brought in a cast of a fossil Ichthyosaurus for students to look at. This fossil cast was developed by Mrs. Jones father to help University of Utah preserve their fossils. This fossil cast is used to preserve fossils.
The Ichthyosaurus is a marine reptile from the Jurassic Period.

For this week, #wellnesswednesday focuses on an activity that can help calm the mind. Underwater Zentangles is an art project inspired by underwater creatures. The combination of artistic expression plus the addition of calming music helps to create an environment where students can feel calm and under control.
