Pre-K practices reading response with Be You, by Peter Reynolds. This book is a part of a reading exchange program, You've Been Book'd, implemented by our librarian, Mrs. Troyer. Each classroom, Pre-K through 2nd grade was given a bag with up to two books in it. Teachers were instructed to read the books to their class and then swap bags with another classroom. "I feel to truly make a difference in a child’s life, we need to love what we are teaching. It took a year of teaching art before I experienced the explosion of creativity. It’s true! After consistently engaging in art for about a year, I found my ability to build things and my own critical thinking skills were pushed to a whole new level. I would find myself overwhelmed with things I could build and how I could achieve my goal. It built my confidence and creating in my own world continues to enhance my life in so many ways. This personal experience is what led me to LOVE sharing the creative process with my students. Engaging in art is so powerful! It helps students to develop their own personal voice and ways to talk about their art with their peers. I observe this in the classroom every day. I also love how art affects our mood in a positive way, making us happier, calmer, or even inspired to do something else. I know kids love art because before they even make it to art they are asking me every where they see me, whether it’s in the halls, cafeteria, at the grocery store, or when I am on duty, “What are we doing in art this week”? They simply can not wait until class. We are looking for people who love kids, who value an opportunity to positively influence the lives of our students, and see these young people as precious cargo. 🚌District bus drivers work either four or five-hour routes per day. In the past, driving positions have proven to be a good fit for many retirees looking to make extra money while keeping them active in the community. In addition, it is a good income source for college students or parents looking for extra money. Drivers come from diverse backgrounds, but they have one common thread; they enjoy being around and helping the kids. 🚌 If you are interested in becoming a Claremore Public School bus driver, please contact Jennifer Hayes, CPS Transportation Director, for additional details. My name is Cindy Ramsey and I am the Reading Specialist. I have been in education and at Claremont for 23 years. I attended Northeastern State University where I received a degree in Elementary/Early Childhood Education, and a Masters degree as a Reading Specialist. I have been married to my husband, Sam for 22 years. Sam is a 1994 Claremore graduate and is an administrator at Tulsa Tech. We have 2 daughters, Chloe, senior at CHS, who plans to go to RSU and earn her Nurse Practitioner License through OU. Ella is an 8th grader at WRJH and a fantastic volleyball and soccer player. I love watching Chloe dance, and Ella play volleyball and be a soccer goalie. I love to travel to Florida and snorkel in the ocean. My dream is to get certified for scuba diving and travel to exotic places to scuba dive. Claremont is my home. I have been here for 23 years. I began teaching in 3rd grade for 6 years, then taught elementary science for 7 years. I am now a reading specialist. I did my final teaching internship at Claremont with Brenda Igarta, a fabulous first grade teacher. I love how hard the teachers at Claremont work, their tenacity, and willingness to go above and beyond for our kids. Sometimes it is providing encouragement to a student or colleague who is having a rough day. Sometimes it is celebrating when one of my students reaches a goal in reading, but it is ALWAYS showing love and support! Claremont kids are the BEST! Teachers at Claremont love our kids and have a passion for teaching. Sometimes we have discouraging days, but each day is a new day to show these kids we love them and want them to be successful in school! One of the most rewarding experiences I have had was when a former Claremont student became a teacher. She told me I had a little part in helping her love school. She is now a teacher at Catalayah, Mrs. Kathy Lopez Clifton, and she is AMAZING!! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
