This right here is proof of that! One of Mrs. Howells 2nd graders parents brought several items to help fill Thanksgiving baskets for some of our families in need!

The library offers E-Books, E-Audiobooks, Streaming Video and E-Magazines! Each has their own catalog of digital downloads, which can be found under the E-books link on the library home page. Any patron in good standing will be able to download e-materials to their personal computer, smartphone, E-reader or listening device.

During reading groups this first grader played "Switch It". Switch It is a fun game that teaches phonics, phonemic awareness, and decoding all in one.
Students in Mrs. Bradfield's kindergarten class had Veterans Day mean a little more this year. One of her students, Eli Miller has a parent in the Armed Forces. His dad, Stephen Miller Sr. is serving in the Air Force: Air National Guard in Georgia. The class wrote letters/drew pictures to Mr. Miller thanking him for his service.
Mrs. Mitchells class worked on Veterans Day crafts yesterday. We love how each of our classes found a way to mark the importance of this very special day!
Mrs. Howells 2nd Grade class made poppies and did a Veterans Day Parade throughout the school to honor Veterans Day.
Kindergarten Students were able to learn about the importance Veterans Day holds yesterday as well! They created poppies and did directed drawings.
Mrs. Troyer is our Librarian. This is her second year of teaching, and she has a passion for sharing good books with our students!

This week is School Psychology Awareness/Appreciation Week! We are thankful for our very own school psychologist, who helps to foster a sense of connection, and also helps teachers ensure academic success!

We are proud to announce that Karin Howell has been selected as Claremont Elementary's Teacher of the Year!
Mrs. Howell has been teaching since 2012 and has been teaching for CPS since 2017.
When asked why she chose to be a Zebra, Mrs. Howell said "The privilege to serve the community in which I was born and raised, is an honor. Teachers are who guided, protected and molded me throughout the most fragile years, even the touchy teens. So, if I were allowed to come up with an acronym from the experience of being a Zebra and being led by "Zebras" this may be it; Zealous, Educated, Bodacious, Respected, Appreciative human being."
When asked, "What is your WHY? Why do you teach?" Mrs. Howell responded, "Why not? I mean, the real question is truly not my why, but WHY wouldn't I?
Why not, take the mixed experiences from my childhood and pay it forward?
Why not, take all I have learned and continue to learn, so even the most " behind" student feels success?
Why not help mold the minds of so many young boys and girls into something great?
Why not give a student hope despite their current situation? You want me to come to your soccer game? You got it. Dance? I'll be there. Football game? Letting every student I'm entrusted with know - I'm here for you even if you can't tell me your vowels. I'm here for you even if you don't have the "coolest" clothes.
WHY not help be another dependable adult in a child's life?
Why not, be fulfilled by the year after year impact the students have on my own life? Teaching is a dream. I'm living my dream."
