Kindergarteners in Mrs. Shrum's class practice reading decodable readers to a friend. Decodable books are simple books that are written for the beginning reader and contain the specific grapheme–phoneme correspondences students have recently learned. These are so important for growing readers!

Claremont students become composers in Mrs. Keener's music class. There are a vast number of ways composing is beneficial for students, but the primary reason is that it cultivates informed musical understanding. Composing requires listening, critical thinking, and creativity.

Claremont families,
We are participating in a district-wide food drive that will benefit many families from our community. Our goal is to provide 10 cans per classroom.
The only items currently needed for the drive are canned corn and canned green beans. These items may be sent to school with your child or dropped off at the school office.
Thank you for helping our community!

5th grade students work on Nonfiction Text Structures - Understanding the structure of a text improves comprehension by helping students organize big ideas and supporting details as they read, see how different pieces of information relate to each other, and get the “gist” (or main idea) of the entire passage.

5th grade students are really enjoying learning about and creating music with percussion instruments while in Music class with Mrs. Keener.
Did you know, music activates both the left and right brain at the same time, and that activation of both hemispheres can maximize learning and improve memory?
