2nd graders were introduced to the Innovation Lab in preparation for their 3rd grade year!
After covering rules and procedures, students were introduced to the STEM learning structure. In the first component of the STEM Learning Structure, they learned about various habitats and food chains. Then they spent time learning how to use the design software Pixie 4 and then combined what they learned to create their own digital media Pixie storybooks about multiple habitats.

Its a great day when snacks are a part of lessons!
1st graders have been working on fractions! Some of their fraction activities have included making their favorite pizza and cutting them into fourths, and also doing an "eat my math" activity with oatmeal pies where they also practiced halves and fourths.

Kindergarten students in Mrs. Shrum's class have been working hard on not shouting out in the classroom. In order to add some additional incentive to this challenge, Mrs. Shrum introduced "blurt beans." Every day, students have the opportunity to earn blurt beans - or have them taken away - depending on how well they are exercising their self control and not blurting out during instruction.
After filling their entire jar with beans, Mrs. Shrum treated the class to a pizza party!! Way to go, kindergarteners!

Pre-K students learned how to draw a springtime bunny! They were so "hoppy" to see their finished products and get to show them off to their grownups.

Meet Mrs. Freeman.
Mrs. Freeman is a paraprofessional working with our fantastic reading team! Mrs. Freeman works with students in small groups to help meet the educational needs of students and provide appropriate instruction and intervention in reading. Mrs. Freeman works with K through 5th grade students and each one of her students love their time with her.
Mrs. Freeman is a bright light in the halls of Claremont, and an irreplaceable asset to our team! We truly couldn't be successful without her and our other amazing paraprofessionals!

We've got some scientists on our hands!
2nd grade students are learning about plants!! They began their unit by examining a lima bean and recording the data they found. Then, students learned about chlorophyll, the green pigment responsible for the absorption of light, which provides energy for plants to make food!

Students in Mrs. Tidwell's class engaged in a fun springtime STEM activity where students were challenged to build a nest for their "peep" using toothpicks and jellybeans. Every student in the classroom was "egg-cited" to build their nest!
