Did you know that centers allow for students to learn in one of the most meaningful ways: hands on experience?
Pre-K students in Mrs. Camber's class spend part of their school day every day in centers, giving them the opportunity to play, explore, and learn in a hands-on way!

3rd grade students in Mrs. Millsap's class had quite the experience in their "Genre Café" where they had the opportunity to explore different genres of books in small groups to give them a better understanding of both the genre classification and which genres they might like best.

5th grader's in Mrs. Tidwell's class had fun with a STEM activity to see who could stack pencils the highest!
We love building STEM activities into lessons here at Claremont, because it allows our students to think creatively and critically about how to solve a problem.

Some of our Kinder girls and teachers were all matched up in their cheetah prints! We love the surprise and excitement on a student's face when there's been a case of accidental matching!

Nothing gives me more joy than to see young kids want to come to school and participate in fun ways of learning. 5th grade went on an adventure in Ms. Anderson's class with Survival Island! Students were given the challenge: you're stranded on an island, what 4 items do you take with you?
Along the way, a "hiccup" was introduced: the island is sinking, its inhabited by King Kong or zombies who only come out at night, there is a dangerous storm every 8 hours...
In this project students had to work together in groups using their critical thinking skills to come up with how they would survive the island.
What a creative lesson!

On this Wellness Wednesday, we want to talk about the one thing we never get enough of (right parents?)...sleep.
Did you know that the National Sleep Foundation has recommended hours of sleep for each age? Getting a good night's sleep has so many benefits, including wellness, brain function, and even behavior.
Check out the graphic from the National Sleep Foundation below. Is your child getting enough sleep? Are you?
Go ahead and use this as an excuse to put your kiddo (or yourself) to bed a little earlier tonight!
