Claremore Public School will not have classes on September 27, 2021. Although your children will not be in our classrooms, our teachers will be in Professional Development meetings, expanding their skills and perfecting their craft through participation in several Solution Tree workshops. We will see you Tuesday morning, ready to learn and celebrate homecoming week.

There is no better way to grow a love of reading than to give students time with books they love. 3rd graders in Mrs. Millsap's class are given free time to read each day, resulting in a classroom full of students who love to hear..."its time to get your books out, friends."

We love game-based learning!
Did you know that game based learning allows students to be more of an active participant in their learning as they are exposed to new content?
Students in Mrs. Johnston's 2nd grade class practice sight words and high frequency words with a Fall Spell and Roll game. Students draw a card, and then spell the word on their recording sheet - if they get the spelling correct, they get to move either one or two spaces, depending on the difficulty of the word.

"I teach because I want to make a difference in students' lives. I want them to know I care about them. One of my high school teachers was really there for me and showed me that she cared and I want to be that for someone too."

One of the foundational skills in Pre-K is letter recgonition. Our Pre-K students work year round with letter recgonition and letter sounds so that when they go to Kindergarten, they have the foundation they need to begin putting sounds together, and eventually learning to read!

5th grade students use devices in every aspect of their learning. From assignments, to research, to testing, our classes take full advantage of their one-to-one access to devices.

On Wednesday, teachers, students, and members of First United Methodist Church gathered around the pole for the annual See You At the Pole event to pray for our school and our community.
This completely voluntary event, held before school started for the day, made a great start to our Wednesday morning at Claremont.

Mrs. Keener was so excited to begin teaching classical guitar to our 5th graders!
Music Education has so many benefits!
Did you know that music education can provide enhanced language capabilities and improved memory? Learning an instrument also leads to increased coordination and achievement.

One of the things our amazing computers teacher works with our students on in her classroom is getting logged into their Google accounts and Classrooms. Something that is second nature for many of us takes many repetitions for students to get the hang of.

Did you know that small group instruction allows a teacher to monitor student actions more closely and provide frequent and individualized feedback to improve specific reading or math skills?
Small group time is SO important!

On this #wellnesswedensday, and Arts In Education Week, we want to share the importance to the arts in education.
Did you know??
"Studying the arts also helps improve academic performance, not just through creativity, but it improves learning in areas like math and science as well as the literary field. Art education also fosters collaboration and group learning."
