As teams, they were tasked with coming up with the layout of the restaurant, deciding which food and drinks to serve, and how much each item costs. Then, students went through a game-like scenario where they had to use their knowledge of decimals to budget, purchase materials, and then count back change to customers.

"Writing, to me, is simply thinking through my fingers." - Isaac Asimov
2nd grade students write about a photo! In this exercise, students are given a photo and then get to write about what they see, about how the photo makes them feel, and about what they might want to do in the time, place or event that the photo takes place in.
Writing allows students to learn to express their thoughts, creativity and uniqueness. It is fundamental to learning to think critically, organize and communicate ideas, and make thinking visible and permanent.

Students in Mrs. Millsap's 3rd grade classroom are reading Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library by Chris Grabenstein, and in an attempt to bring context and meaning to the story, Mrs. Millsap brought her students into the library to get a closer look at the Dewey Decimal System.
In the story, Mr. Lemoncello's Library has a different room for each section of the Dewey Decimal system that correlates with what is actually shelved in that section of the library.
For example,
398.2 has Fairy Tales.
520 has Space.
