Spiders and Snakes and Crows, OH MY!

Students were given cards with information about different animals and then tasked with the job of separating them into categories based upon the information given.

Our neighboring church, First Baptist, is always willing to support our school community. Their generosity to our teachers, students, and families has afforded our school a replacement laminator. This machine will benefit our classrooms greatly!
We want to extend our gratitude to First Baptist Church - You can be sure that teachers all over the building rejoiced - a working laminator is a BIG deal!
THANK YOU, FBC Claremore! From all of us at Claremont!

5th grade students can "Show YOU the Money!"
Students in Ms. Anderson and Ms. Bailey's classes spent time in small groups working with real money learning how to make change. This experience afforded students real-life, hands-on exposure to how what they are learning now can be used in their near futures, and some of them got to use what they learned at the Book Fair!

Pre-K loves puzzles!
Did you know: A puzzle teaches young children about the concept of a 'whole' and that each piece is a fraction of the bigger picture. It also helps develop basic skills such as shape recognition, concentration, goal setting, patience and a sense of achievement.

For their first activity in the Innovation Lab, 5th graders worked on spatial awareness within the lab, effective communication, collaboration, and problem solving as a team while playing the “Knot My Problem” tangled rope challenge.
Teams had to untangle a rope while sticking to very specific guidelines. Everyone in the group had to have both hands touching the rope at all times while trying to untangle the rope.
If someone accidentally removed a hand, the team would have to start over. Students were encouraged to come up with a strategy before starting, use positive dialogue to communicate ideas, and to try different strategies until they figured out how to untangle their rope.
At the end of the activity, we discussed the importance of collaboration and communication within teams.
