Happy National Counselor's Week! Westside's incredible counselor, Mrs. Lyons, teaches lessons focusing on various social and emotional topics to all classes. She recently joined Mrs. Collins' second grade students, teaching them how to give and receive apologies appropriately. Mrs. Lyons' is so valued and builds a positive infrastructure that allows students to learn at high levels. If you see Mrs. Lyons, please tell her how appreciated she is!

Running Club continues this week!
The Oklahoma Caring Van will provide FREE immunizations for children at the Claremore enrollment center March 21st & 23rd from 10a - 12p.
A parent/guardian must complete the required paperwork. Services will be provided to children who are uninsured, Medicaid eligible, or American Indian.

Westside students and staff continue to celebrate the efforts and dedication shown each day. Tranquillite Spa in Claremore joined in the recognition by donating massage certificates to our hard-working staff. The culture established throughout Westside couldn’t take place without the support in and out of the building. Thanks to all who help Westside thrive!

Weside classes each have a "Westie Bestie" partner class. These Westie Besties support and help one another throughout the school year. Ms. Palmer’s 4th grade students paid Zebra bucks to join centers with their Westie Besties, Ms. Pilant's class. Students of all grade levels love the opportunity to help and interact with their peers.

Snowball fight! Mrs. Campbell's class had a sight word snowball fight. Each paper snowball had a sight word on it. Students would throw and gather paper snowballs to practice reading their words. What a wonderful and exciting way to practice reading!

First grade students love using whisper phones. This is a great activity for growing readers. Students speak into their whisper phones, allowing these auditory readers to hear themselves quietly reading.

Check out this cool opportunity to support our Westies!
Westside's GT classes purchased a button maker with funding from a donation made by CF Industries. Students worked out a business plan to make and sell buttons to classmates. Principal Hinds approved their plan, and the group promised to gift her the first button.
Button sales will begin in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades next week on February 1st. Each button will cost $1.00
Plans for offering button sales to younger Westside students are in the works. Proceeds will be used to purchase replacement supplies, fund GT projects, and donate to Westside activities.
