🎶 March Music Madness 2022 is officially going on at Westside! 🎶 Every class is getting to vote on songs through each round to get to the Championship winner in the next few weeks! We’ve got everything from Wagner to Bon Jovi to Queen. Even Encanto made the list! (But we don’t talk about Bruno! 😉 ) Who will be the winner?! We find out April 4th! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Our First Grade teachers have been busy! Three of them were awarded a donors choice award recently, and they got some pretty awesome stuff for their students! Mrs. Darsea Sanders. Received $913.00 for STEM and Literacy Skill group resources. Mrs. Nicole Thomason. Received $989.73 for Flexible seating: wiggle stools, wiggle cushions, soft floor cushions (enough seating for everyone to have a choice of a flexible seat each day) Mrs. Bettie Sue McCaw. Received $979 in funding for wiggle seats, books, STEM activities, whiteboards with pens and erasers, headphones for iPads, markers, chart tablets, a 10 drawer organizer cart, and a carpet for our reading corner. Congratulations to these ladies! We appreciate the work you do for your students! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

This Friday Funny is being served with a side of cute 😉 For TWOSDAY (02/22/2022) our students celebrated by participating in a dress-up day! We could twin with a friend, wear ties, or tutus! These two clever First Graders told their teacher, "We don't have to do anything. We're already twins!" 😂❤ #FRIDAYFUNNIES #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

We love the dreams some of our friends in Mrs. Whitaker's class had while learning about Martin Luther King Jr.! The class discussed what their dreams were and how they could those dreams happen. These students put their heart into their work. Fabulous job, friends! ❤ #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Just look at this Hero Wall! Our students came back from our "Ice Break" ready to change the world! Kindness, compassion, and caring have been on the top of their to-do lists by the looks of this wall! We are constantly impressed and inspired by our students. Students at Westside celebrated Black History month in many different ways, but one of our favorites just might be the decorations celebrating the diversity in our school/community. Students filled the halls with handcrafted work that connected to deep thinking lessons. They hung quotes from historical figures, celebrated them, and discussed the meaning behind their words. Back in March of 2020, we went on distance learning for an extended amount of time and one of our students created their own business. She is now using it to better her community! 5th grader, Alayna Eberley, made this blanket and donated it to Dec My Room! Dec My Room is an organization that's goal is to change a dull hospital room into a cozier, more personalized space for patients. This blanket is going to a sweet patient at OU Children’s Hospital in OKC! We are proud of you, Alayna, and we love the kindness you are spreading with Alayna's Land of Tie Dye! Distance learning is the use of various technologies to facilitate student-teacher and student-student communication. Westside proudly introduces another one of our fabulous teachers, Mrs. Jennifer Levesque! "My name is Jennifer Levesque. I am the elementary resource teacher and oversee the Special Education department at Westside. I love my students and my Westside Family! We have such a caring and dedicated group of professionals at Westside who work together to help our students succeed. Our Westside students make me so proud and inspire me every day with their hard work and resilience. My favorite things include reading, music, baseball, traveling, and spending time with my family. A fun fact about me is that I love seeing new places and have taken road trips through over 30 states across the country." Westside Valentines for Veterans! ❤ Students from across several different grade levels at Westside helped create special Valentine’s Day cards for our military friends at the Veterans Center in Claremore. Our students created unique cards in their style, wrote out valentine wishes & hand written thank you notes for our Claremore veterans. We were grateful for a chance to show some love & gratitude to those who served in our community. Way to go Westside! Keigan (1st), Rivers (3rd), Hudson (4th) & Riley (3rd) are delivering our Westside Valentines for Veterans to Ms. Patty to be distributed to residents. ❤ #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
