Presentations are a great way for students to gain speaking skills, listening skills, and writing skills. It's also a great confidence builder! Our 6th Grade Current Events class learned presentation skills and gave their very first presentation, "All About Me" to the class. They shared their personality traits, their learning styles, and cool information about themselves, their families, and their best furry friends! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

✨Staff Spotlight✨ My name is Mikayla Blankenship and I teach 6th grade English at WRJH. I grew up in Talala, Ok, and graduated from Oologah High School in 2014. I graduated from Evangel University with an Early Childhood and Elementary Education degree in December of 2017. This is my 4th year teaching and my 2nd year as part of the Zebra family. I have a beagle puppy named Scout at home that keeps my life interesting! I enjoy spending time with my friends and family as well as working for my church when I'm not at school. I became a teacher because I wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of the next generation. I love getting to see the "aha!" moments that happen each day in the classroom as the students start to "get it." I enjoy being a small part of their educational experience as they grow, change, and take ownership in their learning a little bit more every day. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Southwest Asia may have the world's largest oil supply, but many of the Middle Eastern countries lack one major life-sustaining element: WATER!💦 Mrs. Smith's students are studying the Water Crisis in Southwest Asia this week. They are learning how water scarcity has caused many Middle Eastern countries to go to war with one another! Issues over water rights and a lack of water has caused a food shortage in countries like Iraq, and pollution is a major issue region-wide. Countries like Saudi Arabia have built desalination plants to create drinking water from seawater. Although this is a reliable way to provide the population with drinking water, it is expensive, uses a great deal of energy, and harms sea life. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Congratulations to Bobby Ruth, who made the 8th grade JH Mixed All State Choir and Ely Trosky, 7th grade, who made the JH Treble All State Choir. They will get to attend a virtual festival in January. Emmalynn Roberts, 6th grade, auditioned for OkMEA Children's All State Chorus. She recorded vocalises, harmonization exercises, and a prepared song to submit and compete against 3rd-8th graders across the state of Oklahoma. She is now considered a top singer in the state! We are SO proud of all of you! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
