Our staff and parents use words like excellence, family, teachers who care, everyone, diversity, academics, athletics, extracurricular opportunities, whole child, educational options, innovation, accountability, social connection, etc., to describe their #CPSZEBRAPRIDE. What does the school nurse do? The school nurse addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and social health needs of students and supports their achievement in the learning process. But they do so much more than this! Nurse Egleston helps in many ways, from taking temperatures to giving sight tests, she is always here for our students. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Do you remember learning about fractions? Decimals? Percents? In Mrs. Bart's 6th grade math class, students are learning all about them! Students worked together in this activity to order all the percent cards from least to greatest. Next, they were given decimal and fraction cards to add to their ordering of the cards. Working together and learning together! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Safety is very important- especially in a science lab! Mrs. Tietz's class learned all about lab safety by doing a lab safety escape room. They had to pick out the safe lab practices to escape by making observations on things they could see and feel. Some of the students had to pick out the safest lab practices and others had to know what the lab safety equipment was and what it did. It was a great learning opportunity for class, and for life! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Rahn's STEM class watched the live broadcast of the Perseverance and Ingenuity successfully land during Distance Learning! It was so exciting! Students had a lot of great questions and they had wonderful discussions about why NASA is landing a rover on Mars. We hope this experience inspires them and ignites their curiosity! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

What's the best way to have a study break during Distance Learning days? Show and tell with your PET! 🐕🐶🐱🐰 Mrs. Franklin's class had "bring your pet to class" day during distance learning! Students got to show and introduce their pet (or little brother!) to class during their Google Meet. Teachers finding new ways to keep students engaged and motivated to learn is such an important part of distance learning. And how fun is it to bring your pet to class! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

✨STAFF SPOTLIGHT✨ My name is Suzie Woods and I currently teach computers and yearbook at WRJH. I have taught for 30 years (all in Claremore from 5-8 grades). I truly LOVE teaching and know that when the time comes to leave education I will be very sad. My husband, Russell has lived in Claremore his entire life and I have lived here for 32 years, so it is home. Two of our children came through the Claremore school system and received EXCELLENT educations. Robbie and his wife Sarah live in Owasso and are raising my super Nanababies with an eye toward education and sports. B’Mer has worked in education and the prison system. Our other daughter, Bethany, is in the US Navy and is about to be stationed in Panama City, Panama----can’t wait for that to happen because we love visiting Panama. We love to travel! I have been to Italy, Spain, Panama, France, Venezuela, and numerous states here in the USA. I have taught so long in Claremore that I am now teaching students whose parents I also taught---love that connection! CPS is a great school system and I have enjoyed every friendship, student, and life experience I have had here! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

It's a mystery! Mrs. Tietz's class had to put together fossils based solely on discussions with their lab partner. They had no idea what the original animal looked like! Can you identify the animals? #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

We've got another winter weather challenge for our Zebra families. Let's make some Ice Marbles. Put a few drops of food coloring or Kool-aid powder into a balloon then fill with water. Place outside and let it freeze. Depending on how big the balloons are and how cold it is, this will take about 24 hours. Hold them up to the light to see if they are frozen all the way through. Join Finley, Alayna & Brecken from Westside and submit your photos in the comments of the CPS FB page. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
