Students in Mrs. Rahn’s STEM class had to plan, design, build and test a lunar lander that carried a rover with a payload of an “Eggstronaut” all while staying within a budget. Each straw, plastic bottle or piece of tape had a cost. The winning team’s egg survived the drop and rolled the furthest while spending the least amount of money!
They learned that engineers must stay within a budget!

Attention everyone, we have an exciting update from Dr. Young's 8th-grade class! After enjoying both the movie adaptation and the original novel of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, these creative students celebrated the end of the school year by channeling their inner recipe developers for none other than the iconic Mr. Willy Wonka himself! The entire classroom was ready to make these yummy ice cream sundae recipes, which they later enjoyed while fondly sharing memories of their memorable middle school experiences. What a delicious and heartwarming way to mark this milestone in their academic journey!

Mrs. Rahn’s 6th grade robotics class partnered with the Catalayah STEM club to tour Claremore’s Rye Design automation & robotics business. The owners Andy & Sarah Fiegener showed students the process of building a robot from conception to the finished product. Afterwards we visited the Claremore Museum of History to learn about Stuart Roosa and play on the rocket ship playground!

Our 8th grade students engaged in an exciting collaborative project with their teachers. Teachers worked together to challenge their 3rd hour students. The task at hand: forming teams to design and build the tallest freestanding structure within a single class period!
Each teacher pair supervised their teams of young visionaries as they created freestanding structures using spaghetti noodles, marshmallows of various sizes, yarn, and masking tape. Their shared goal: to create the largest and most impressive structure that could stand on its own. It was a day filled with creativity, teamwork, and hands-on learning. Great job to all the participants, and a special thanks to our 8th grade teachers for organizing this challenge!

Our final PLC of the year was Friday, May 17th. And this was more about fun and commemorating the school year than planning and preparing! Teachers got to enjoy an afternoon snack and dessert while telling their favorite memory of the school year! What a great way to end the school year!

8th grade students in our High School Physical Science classes wrapped up their chemistry unit by creating Bohr models of the first 50 elements of the periodic table. The outside of their boxes resemble the squares of the periodic table. Inside, students included facts about their elements and identified the correct number and placement of the subatomic particles. We've also got to give a shoutout to Mazzio's in Claremore for generously donating the pizza boxes! Great job, students, and a big thank you to Mazzio's for supporting our educational journey!

What a fantastic evening of music! Last Thursday marked our final band concert of the year, and our junior high band members truly outdid themselves with their amazing performances. The growth and progress they have made under the guidance of Mr. Pringle is truly remarkable, and it was evident in the beautiful music they shared with us all. Thank you to our dedicated band members and Mr. Pringle for an unforgettable concert and a successful year of learning music together!

Mrs. Boyd's class has been diving deep into the fascinating world of Human Body Systems! 💪 As part of their exploration, students got hands-on by constructing model hands to better understand how various systems work together to make something as simple as hand movement possible. By examining the intricate interplay between the muscular system, skeletal system, circulatory system, and nervous system, they gained great insights into the complex and amazing human body. 🤝
