🥤Sweet Treat Friday!🍫
Our counselors delivered treats to the teachers and staff last Friday! That's so sweet (no pun intended)! 😊 It's great to see school counselors showing appreciation for the hard work of teachers and staff. The power of a simple gesture, like delivering treats, can go a long way in boosting morale and making people feel valued.
Thanks Mrs. Helm and Mrs. Armstrong! You made our day great!😊

In Mrs. Boyd's WIN class, students learned to fold a football flicker and held a contest to see who could "kick" the farthest. Sometimes a little bit of fun and games can go a long way in breaking up the school day! And who doesn't love a good paper football flick contest? It's a great way for students to let loose and have a little friendly competition, all while learning about aerodynamics and physics!

What makes the dream work? Team work! When we are short-staffed, we can always count on Coach Young for a helping hand! Coach Young, our district athletic director, was the former principal at WRJH, and loves to come and help out in the cafeteria when he has a free afternoon! (And enjoys lunch here, too!)
Thanks for always being a team player, Coach!

Music Appreciation class just got a whole lot louder (and a whole lot more fun)! Who knew buckets could make such an awesome percussion instrument? What a great way to learn about rhythm and percussion! And to appreciate music!

Mrs. Newbury's Science classes are using a creative way to learn about DNA! Using gummy bears to represent the different base pairs is such a fun and engaging way to understand the structure and function of DNA. And by using color coded gummy bears makes it easy to visualize how the base pairs fit together to create the building blocks of life.
Good job to making learning so fun... and yummy!

Dictionary Wars... have you played? Dr. Young sure knows how to turn studying into a fun, competitive game. It's like a spelling bee meets Scrabble, but with dictionaries as the secret weapon!
Dictionary Wars is definitely a more engaging and memorable way to learn how to use a dictionary than your standard, run-of-the-mill classroom lessons. I mean, who doesn't love a little friendly competition, especially when it involves expanding your vocabulary and getting rewarded with some candy?!

Our NJROTC junior high and high school drone teams had a great day of competition at Western Heights High School in OKC. We are super proud of the performance, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The team won a lot and learned more. And we had TWO WRJH NJROTC students competing with the High School! Way to go, team! We are proud of you!

Wow, what a powerful and poignant way to bring a book to life! 🏃♀️🌊 After reading "A Long Walk to Water," a book about a Sudanese refugee's journey to safety, our 7th grade students got the chance to experience a small taste of what that journey might have been like. Carrying water while walking on a track might seem like a simple thing, but when you consider how far some people have to travel to get clean water, it becomes a powerful lesson in empathy and gratitude. Plus, it gives students a chance to reflect on their own privileges and the resources that many of us take for granted every day. So not only did these English classes get to enjoy a little bit of exercise, but they also got to learn a valuable lesson about the human experience. That's some powerful learning right there!

The sweet taste of success!😋 Students in Mrs. Fudge's class were rewarded for reaching their goal on the MAP tests. It's always good to reward students for reaching academic goals, and what better way than with ice cream sandwiches on a beautiful, sunny day? Not only does it give them something to strive for, it teaches them that hard work pays off!

Mrs. Newbury's classes were in for a "wave" of fun experimenting with springs to observe different properties of waves. Who doesn't love playing with springs?! Way to be creative, Mrs. Newbury!

•••REMINDER to 8th grade parents•••
Tomorrow is ZAP enrollment! Students will be going to meet with their Zap advisors to pick core classes. This is a very important meeting, so attendance is CRUCIAL. Please make sure they are at school, and on time. Also, students MUST bring their laptops for this meeting.
#CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Teamwork makes the dream work! Students in Dr. Young’s class were grouped into teams to help determine what information was missing while discerning which information was more important. The information that was determined to be “important” was placed on the walls and will be accessible for quick reference guides for their upcoming compare and contrast essays!
Wow! What a brilliant way to encourage teamwork and critical thinking in the classroom!

Do you know the difference between street art and graffiti? Officer Holmes explains to our art students about the differences. Graffiti is not authorized markings done without permission. Street art is something done to make an outside area look more desirable.
