Mrs. Hammack's class is getting a real life science lesson! They are examining owl pellets and matching bones to the animals they came from. It takes patience, attention to detail and critical thinking to piece together the puzzle- but how rewarding when they figure it out! This is one science experience the students won't likely forget!

The boys brought home some hardware, too! 🏅 Congrats to our WRJH Boys Tennis team for their WINS at their tennis tournament! We are proud of you!

It's School Social Worker Week and we are so happy to have Mrs. Jones here to help the needs of our students! Social workers often work behind the scenes, and it's great to see her working with our students.
We appreciate you!

Another Teamwork Tuesday is in the books! Our mentoring groups are a great way for students to get to know other students and to see older students mentoring and playing games with younger students. Not only does it promote a sense of community within the school, but it also helps foster leadership skills and empathy in the older students while providing guidance and support to the younger ones. And who doesn't like a J' Farley's burger?! 😊

Who said studying can't be fun? Ms. Prine's class is definitely thinking outside the box by using a board game to help review the material from "The Outsiders" book. Board games are a great way to make learning interactive and engaging, and way more fun than just reading notes!

It's National School Breakfast Week 🥣 And the best way to start the day is a nutritional breakfast-especially for growing kids! Thanks to our wonderful cafeteria workers, students are able to do just that!

Students in Mrs. Boyd's class are learning about air pressure. Minute to Win It games are always a blast, and using marshmallows and straws to demonstrate air pressure is such a clever idea. But beyond the fun factor, this game is actually a great way to understand how air pressure works in a practical, hands-on way. The students are learning how air pressure can be used to hold the marshmallows in place on the straws, and how changing the pressure can affect the marshmallow's position.
So not only are the students having a blast playing this game, but they're also learning about physics, problem-solving, and teamwork. It's like a science lesson disguised as a party game, and the students are having a marshmallow-filled blast.

Do you know what this truck symbolizes? The unsung heroes that keep our school running. They're the ones who make sure the building is open, the lights are on, the heating and air conditioning are working, and so much more!
It's National School Maintenance Workers Day!
It's awesome that there's a day to recognize all the hard work that goes into keeping schools safe, clean, and functioning smoothly.
Thanks to these hard workers for all they do!

Thank you to our wonderful social workers in all Claremore Schools. We recognize and appreciate your important contributions!

It's capture the flag meets trivia night in Ms. McKinnon's Geography class! Each student is their own team and they get to work at their own pace on their worksheet. Students get a question checked one by one. If they get it right they can steal a flag from another team. If they get it wrong they lose a flag but can earn it back once answered correctly.
What a great way to combine some friendly competition, individualized learning, and critical thinking skills all in one game!

6th graders in the Shooting Stars Pod spent Leap Day learning all about Leap Year! It's all thanks to our slightly uneven calendar system, where it takes the Earth approximately 365.25 days to orbit the Sun. We need to add an extra day every four years to keep our calendars in sync with the seasons! They played hopscotch, measured how far they could leap, and found hidden leap frogs in each class. it sounds like they had a "leaping" good time on Leap Day!
Happy Leap Day!
