When an archaeologist extracts fossils from the earth, they must use extreme care to not damage or compromise the fossil while removing it. In Mrs. Simmonds Science class, students are simulating paleontologists and extracting ‘fossils’ without damaging them - here's the hard part, they use chocolate chip cookies as the fossils! I hope they don't accidentally EAT them! 🍪

We have some RUNNERS at WRJH! 🏃🏼♀️
Mrs. Luginbill, our assistant principal, and Mrs. Esau, one of our teachers, ran the Route 66 MARATHON over the holiday break! WOW! That is amazing! We hope they recovered with lots of turkey and dressing!

Mrs. Esau's class has a very special visitor! Jolly Jerry, (or JJ) shows up it different places every morning! Sometimes he's doing funny things, sometimes he's sleepy, and sometimes he's in t-r-o-u-b-l-e!
The students love to look for him every morning and find out what silly things he was doing the night before!

The battles continue...
In Coach Dexter's class, students are researching different battles fought by the Americans and British. To get students more interested, sometimes a change of scenery is needed. During this research, students worked in groups in the cafeteria.

Did you know the first Thanksgiving likely had corn, beans and squash along with their turkeys?
Our Native American Club learned all about the "3 Sisters" of corn, beans and squash and how important they are to Native American history. They also made corn lapel pins and magnets!

WRJH has several hobby clubs that meet after school. Chess Club is one of our popular clubs. Students learn the best way to outplay their opponent. Chess has many benefits - including helping with memory and learning planning skills. Chess Club is open to all of our students and meets after school on Tuesdays.

🎄It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Mrs. Highley's room! 🎄
Students took a break from reading to decorate the tree. Sometimes a brain break is all you need to get right back into school work!
