It was Cherokee Heritage Day at WRJH! Each year the Cherokee Heritage Center visits us to share the culture of the Cherokee people with our students. Students learned about the history and culture of the Cherokee Nation, including traditional customs, the Cherokee language and different outdoor games like stick ball. It was a great way to gain a deeper appreciation for the rich history of the Cherokee people. Thank you to the Cherokee Nation and volunteers for a great day for our students. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

In Dr. Young's English classes, students enjoyed celebrating the conclusion of the novel, "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton, with Sodapop Curtis’s Chocolate Cake. They enjoyed cake while listening to the final, hopeful chapter of the novel. Cake and a good book, what could be better? 🍰📔 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

PE class was really getting into the holiday spirit with these relay races! Relays are already a classic gym class staple, but add in some "Santa's sleigh" and "reindeer" themes, and you've got yourself a MERRY little workout! I bet the students had a blast racing to fetch those presents, all while getting their heart rates up and building some serious teamwork skills. And I can just imagine the festive music blaring in the background, with the students laughing and cheering as they ran! But I wonder if there were any "Grinches" among the group, trying to sabotage the sleigh or steal the presents? #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Appreciate the beauty while it lasts... that is the meaning behind Robert Frost's poem, " Nothing Gold Can Stay". Students in Mrs. Highley's classes completed a project over their ideal sunrise/sunset. The students re-read and discussed the poem. Sunrises, sunsets, and gold are referenced numerous times throughout the novel to highlight the importance of people and things in our lives that are golden and how we need to hold on to those people and things because life is fleeting. The students then drew their ideal sunrise/sunset and added to their drawing their favorite line or passage of Frost's poem. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

It's important to ensure that our families are prepared for winter weather as we prepare to return to school. To help with this, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions about winter weather and school. These include questions such as how and when we will be notified about any weather-related changes to school schedules. For more information, visit https://www.claremore.k12.ok.us/article/643291.

It was the ultimate odd couple in Mrs. Wiley's class! The GRINCH and Rudolph in the same class... at the same time! Did they end up getting along, or was it a total "bah humbug" situation? Now that sounds like a recipe for some holiday HIJINKS! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
