•All Around the World•
7th grade geography students in Mrs. Stout's class created posters about physical features in Europe. Then, they used the posters created by their classmates to learn about all of the different features Europe has to offer. This allows students to take ownership of their learning and collaborate to help each other master the content.

We are sure to have some scientists in our Zebra family!

Students need a consistent figure in their lives to guide them through difficult concepts and learning standards; I want to be that person for them!
We are glad you are here! Welcome to WRJH!

Mystery Bag Dramatics!
Mrs. Prine's classes worked in groups to plan, write, and act out skits. They were given mystery bags with props and they had to use everything in the bag. This activity focused on working collaboratively and coming up with a narrative that had a beginning, middle, and end. It was so much fun to see what they came up with!

How do you get students to start talking to each other? You play "get to know you" games!
Students in Mrs. Crabtree's class learned all about each other, just by playing a game! What a great way to break the ice and become friends!

Cross Country athletes had a great meet last week! We had several great times, and a medal winner!

☼We will value one another as unique and special individuals☼
Mrs. Mercer's students are diving deeper into the 8 Expectations for Living. Each group read a short story that was an example of an expectation. Then, they worked together as a team to create posters that shared their story summary, expectation connection, and a visual.

I wonder what everyone's goals will be?
In Mrs. Ross' Geography class students did a Cactus craft. They are starting the book "Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus," by Dusti Bowling. The book is about moving across the country and being in a new environment. The students are making a craft inspired by the book: a cactus with 3 goals for this school year.

•WELCOME TO WRJH•
Mr. Berglund-6th grade Geography
Let's get to know Mr. Berglund►
My name is David Berglund and I teach 6th grade Geography. This is my first year as a teacher of record, but it is the start of my 10th year working in education in some capacity. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, Emmett, Idaho to be exact, and enjoyed the opportunity to be outside as often as possible. I joined the U.S. Navy right out of high school in order to pay for college down the road. Down the road, I found myself enrolled at Rogers State University where I graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Behavioral Sciences with a minor in History earning Cum Laude Honors.
I enjoy playing the guitar and singing my original songs, as well as spending time with my family. My wife and I have been married for 18 years and we have a beautiful 13 year old daughter, 5 huge dogs and 2 cats.
My reason for teaching is because I want to make better humans for the future of our planet. And maybe teach them a little about our planet in the process!

What is Freedom of the Press? Ask one of Mr. Dexter's students!
Students are learning about the John Peter Zenger Trial that established Freedom of the Press! They took turns reading and acting out the trial during class, which helps to understand and retain the information. It is important for our students to learn this key concept because of the important role the Press plays in our everyday lives.

Let's get to know each other... with a SNOWBALL FIGHT?
In Coach Dexter's classes, he begins the school year with a game of throwing "snowballs" at each other. Snowball fight is a way to get students matched up at random and talk to people they wouldn’t normally talk to! Friends are made, and the school year is off to a great start! Plus, there's no snowy mess to clean up! Great idea, Coach!
