Our WRJH Academic Team is starting to go to Academic matches! Last weeks match was virtual against Metro Christian. They did well and tried hard, but came up short. Our next match is today against Catoosa. Wish us luck! Go Zebras! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Who survived? The predators or the prey? In Mrs. Hammack's class this week, students learned about relationships between predators and their prey. The black beads represent prey for the colored beads. Each student had a radius that the predators could “hunt” in. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

✨WRJH NEW TEACHER FEATURE✨ My name is James Robertson. I am the 7th and 8th grade computer teacher at Will Rogers Junior High. I also coach tennis and football. I graduated from Claremore High School in 2012, then went to Rogers State University. Before beginning my career at CPS, I worked in the arms industry on the west coast mostly dealing with militarized drones. I love CPS because I grew up here and it’s home! WRJH RBOTICS HAD A GREAT WEEKEND! Team 8634X won the Design Award and the TOURNAMENT! Team 8634R won the Judges Award! There were 45 teams total, which was the largest tournament in the state since the start of the pandemic! Great job WRJH Robotics!🏆 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

✨WRJH NEW TEACHER FEATURE✨ My name is John Dexter. I teach 8th US History and I coach 7th/HS football and junior high track. I graduated from Claremore High School in May 2014 and went on to Oklahoma State University. Go Pokes! Before I came to Claremore, I coached at Perkins Tryon for five years. In my spare time I enjoy reading and hanging out with family. ✨WRJH NEW TEACHER FEATURE✨ My name is Bonnie Wiley. I teach 6th/7th grade English at WRJH. I graduated high school from Oologah in 2008, then went on to Northeastern State University. Before becoming a teacher, I was a Child Welfare Investigator for over 5 years! I am married and have a son and will be welcoming a daughter in February! I enjoy gardening, fishing, camping, basically anything outside. What I like most about working at CPS is working with the kids and seeing them learn! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

WRJH Robotics is having an AMAZING year! Saturday, at the Robotics Tournament in Nowata, one of our JH teams won the Design Award! We had to compete against high school teams and we won the 2nd highest award possible! We also made it to the finals match and lost to one of the teams from Claremore High School! They did a great job though. This team had robot problems the entire day and they finally got them fixed right before the tournament started. They never gave up and worked hard all day. To say we are proud is an UNDERSTATEMENT! Way to go, WRJH Robotics! YOU ARE CHAMPIONS!🏆 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Students in Mrs. Rahn's 6th grade STEM class researched the James Webb Space Telescope and learned about its revolutionary technology which was launched on Christmas Day. The telescope will observe the most distant galaxies to help us understand the origins of the universe! Students also learned about how NASA engineers designed the massive telescope to unfold like origami once it was in space. The James Webb Space Telescope will orbit 1 million miles from Earth. It also will undergo 6 months of unfolding its mirrors, sunshield and other systems. This information gave students the perfect opportunity to create a stop-motion animation about how the telescope will unfold and operate. Our up-and-coming Zebras are creating a legacy of their own. Congratulations to our JH team for their 7th place team finish. There were 20 teams represented at the tournament! 1st - Mason 1st - Josh 2nd - Gunner 3rd - Kale 4th - Andrew, Coop & Mikey 6th - Josh 8th - Ari 10th - Ethan 12th - Kain 14th -Silas 15th - Josh Mason and Josh made their mark as the 1st champions at this tournament since 2014, and the 1st time CPS wrestling had 2 Champs in the same year. The Perry tournament is one of the toughest tournaments in the state. Our Zebras battled hard all weekend long! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Do you know what a dichotomous key does? Mrs. Simpson's class can answer this! Students in Mrs. Simpson's Science class used a dichotomous key to identify different types of rocks. A dichotomous key is used for the identification of organisms based on a series of choices between alternative characters. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
