✨STAFF SPOTLIGHT✨
My name is Suzie Woods and I currently teach computers and yearbook at WRJH. I have taught for 30 years (all in Claremore from 5-8 grades). I truly LOVE teaching and know that when the time comes to leave education I will be very sad. My husband, Russell has lived in
Claremore his entire life and I have lived here for 32 years, so it is home. Two of our children came through the Claremore school system and received EXCELLENT educations. Robbie and his wife Sarah live in Owasso and are raising my super Nanababies with an eye toward
education and sports. B’Mer has worked in education and the prison system. Our other daughter, Bethany, is in the US Navy and is about to be stationed in Panama City, Panama----can’t wait for that to happen because we love visiting Panama. We love to travel! I have been to Italy, Spain, Panama, France, Venezuela, and numerous states here in the USA.
I have taught so long in Claremore that I am now teaching students whose parents I also taught---love that connection! CPS is a great school system and I have enjoyed every friendship, student, and life experience I have had here!

It's a mystery! Mrs. Tietz's class had to put together fossils based solely on discussions with their lab partner. They had no idea what the original animal looked like! Can you identify the animals?

6th graders in Mrs. Simpson's science class learned about states of matter and the water cycle. They ended the lesson with an experiment that had students observe water in each state.

Do you know the different types of waves? Not ocean waves or lake waves, but waves that transport energy without transporting matter.
They come in many shapes and forms. Mrs. Gillispie's class are investigating mechanical waves with springs. Students created video examples of transverse and mechanical waves with springs.

We've got another winter weather challenge for our Zebra families. Let's make some Ice Marbles.
Put a few drops of food coloring or Kool-aid powder into a balloon then fill with water. Place outside and let it freeze. Depending on how big the balloons are and how cold it is, this will take about 24 hours. Hold them up to the light to see if they are frozen all the way through.
Join Finley, Alayna & Brecken from Westside and submit your photos in the comments of the CPS FB page.

💖Valentine's Day💖fun may have been interrupted by Mother Nature, but before she decided to bring us this cold weather, our NJHS and STUCO students were hard at work making Candy Grams! The sales from this and other fundraisers help NJHS and STUCO do fun things throughout the school year and teach students the importance of volunteering! *Candy grams will be delivered when we return to school.

For all you "planners" out there... the CPS Academic Calendar for 2021-22 has been approved by the Board of Education. It goes without saying, but just in case, this is official unless we have any unforeseen situations come up in the future.

Native American Club meets every Wednesday after school. The goal of the club is to learn more about the Native American cultures through stories, crafts and games. Before the Christmas break, they painted and decorated cannonball gourds for tree ornaments.

Due to the icy conditions, CPS will continue Distance Learning, Thursday, February 11th & Friday, February 12th.
Additionally, the child nutrition team will not distribute meals this week.
Check in to your Google Classrooms and follow the instructions. Your teachers are working from home and are available to assist you.
There will be no after school activities, including athletic practices or games.
We will post updates on the CPS communication platforms. If you have not downloaded our CPS App on your phone, we suggest doing that to receive the most updated information. It's available through the Apple Store & Google Play for free.
Be safe, stay warm, make a memory, and remember it's A Great Day to be a Zebra.

Can you find the area and perimeter of an object? Students in Mrs. Smith's math class created mosaics to help them find areas and perimeters. This looks like a fun math project!

and Information Studies from the University of Oklahoma in 2015. Since then, I have become a certified Library Media Specialist. I grew up in Northeast Oklahoma and have been a Claremore resident
for over 35 years. My husband and I raised our two sons in Claremore. He and our sons are all Claremore Zebra graduates. My favorite thing about being the WRJH librarian is having the opportunity

Adaptation is a change in structure, function, or behavior by which a species or individual improves its chance of survival in a specific environment. All of us adapt to our surroundings. 8th grade science students are learning about adaptations first hand. Each student received a bird beak and had to get food in order to survive. Each beak was well suited for certain environments and students were able to figure out if they were specialized or general and create a class graph to identify patterns.
