Staff spotlight on Mr. Gash: My name is Grant Gash and I grew up in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Woo Pig! I graduated from the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith with a degree in accounting, but realized very quickly that I was called to teach and coach. I spent last year at Bixby before coming over to Claremore this year! I teach 7th grade math and coach 8th grade boys basketball. When I’m not in my classroom, I’m usually in front of a TV, watching whatever game is on that night. I chose Claremore because I know I matter to the success of our school and our students and it felt like the right fit. Go Zebras! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Staff Spotlight on Miss. Cox: My name is Rachel Cox. I was born and raised in Skiatook, Oklahoma and graduated from Skiatook High School. I attended Oklahoma State University (go pokes!) where I played the clarinet in the Cowboy Marching Band. After graduating from OSU, I began searching for a place to start my teaching career. I knew that I wanted to stay in Oklahoma and close to home, and I was blessed to be presented with the opportunity to teach in Claremore. This is my first year teaching 7th Grade Geography, and I chose WRJH because I love the positive environment and commitment to providing the best education for all students. I could not have asked for a better place to start my teaching career and I’m proud to be a Zebra! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Oh Deer is the name of the game. The students learn about some of the limiting factors deer come across. Students are either deer or a resource (food water or shelter). The deer have to choose a resource that they need to survive for that round. If they can find a matching resource they are able to live for another round but if the resource they need is not available then that student then turns into a resource for the following round.

Wondering what we did with our pumpkins from last week? Our 6th grade science classes had a pumpkin lab showing the carrying capacity, limiting factor, and biotic potential of pumpkins. And got a little messy in the process! This is what we call "hands on" learning!
