My name is Marin Black, and I am an 8th grade English teacher. I am from Russellville, Arkansas, and I graduated from Arkansas Tech University. This is my 2nd year of teaching. I show up to work every day because I believe that I can make an impact on the next generation by simply showing up for them, believing in them, and inspiring them to be who they are called to be.

Southwest Asia may have the world's largest oil supply, but many of the Middle Eastern countries lack one major life-sustaining element: WATER!💦
Mrs. Smith's students are studying the Water Crisis in Southwest Asia this week. They are learning how water scarcity has caused many Middle Eastern countries to go to war with one another! Issues over water rights and a lack of water has caused a food shortage in countries like Iraq, and pollution is a major issue region-wide. Countries like Saudi Arabia have built desalination plants to create drinking water from seawater. Although this is a reliable way to provide the population with drinking water, it is expensive, uses a great deal of energy, and harms sea life.

Congratulations to Bobby Ruth, who made the 8th grade JH Mixed All State Choir and Ely Trosky, 7th grade, who made the JH Treble All State Choir. OKCDA Junior High All-State consists of two virtual audition rounds. Students prepared three difficult pieces of music and scored in the top of their region and the entire state! They will get to attend a virtual festival in January.
Emmalynn Roberts, 6th grade, auditioned for OkMEA Children's All State Chorus. She recorded vocalises, harmonization exercises, and a prepared song to submit and compete against 3rd-8th graders across the state of Oklahoma. She is now considered a top singer in the state!
We are SO proud of all of you!

How do you get your 8th grade English class interested in learning about the Civil War? You let them become the soldiers. Mrs. Crabtree's students are reading the novel “Soldiers Heart” and writing diary entries as if they are soldiers in the war.

Their ages range from 24 to 11. (3 Gals and 3 Guys!) We have one fantastic cat! We love to go on vacation, watch movies together, walk, and hang out! We love to have bake-offs at the house! We love sports too! I may be too loud at some sporting events, but that's because I just care sometimes too much! I love Claremore so much, and I hope to live here for a long time to enjoy this district and this community!

🚀Space "TaterNauts" & The Science Behind Spacesuits🚀
Mrs. Rahn's STEM class investigated how the layers of a space suit project astronauts from extreme conditions outside of the International Space Station or on the Lunar surface. Using the engineering design process, they participated in a simulated spacesuit design challenge to create a suit that protects their "TaterNauts" from micrometeroroids and orbital debris.
Students' spacesuits were also judged on design and style.
